I hope this message finds you well. Here's the 4th grade weekly update for week #24 and an important note, please read carefully, thank you! As always, please reach out if you have questions or concerns.
I have an exciting opportunity! I'm going on—a Education Study Abroad Trip with Weber State University from May 6th to May 17th. During this time, I will be touring Finland, Sweden, and Estonia as part of my education for my Master's Degree. I am truly thrilled about this chance to further my education and gain valuable experiences as I learn and visit some of the world's top schools.
I will miss teaching my Tuesday and Wednesday classes, but in my absence, your children will be in good hands. I have arranged for two exceptional substitute teachers to take charge of my classes while I am away. Mrs. Halls (Tuesday) and Mrs. Hovorka (Wednesday) will be the substitutes and I am confident they will do a great job.
However, this endeavor will necessitate a few adjustments, and I kindly request your support in facilitating these changes before I depart. Here's what you can expect:
Parent-Teacher Conferences: The 4th Grade Parent Conferences will be Monday, April 29, and Thursday, May 2. Please note that these dates will not coincide with the school's general Parent Conference schedule. I understand that this may require some adjustments to your plans, and I genuinely appreciate your cooperation and understanding in accommodating this change. I will be providing a detailed signup spreadsheet for all 4th Grade parents shortly.
Curriculum Ordering: You will be ordering curriculum for 5th Grade during Parent Teacher Conference. Please be prepared with the packages you would like to order before you come. If you are not sure what curriculum you would like for next year, I advise you to make an appointment with Jessica Maughan well before your PTC so that you will be prepared.
Curriculum Progress Forms will be emailed out school-wide on April 22nd. Please fill out your 4th Grade students form by April 24th. This only gives you two days, but it will give me the information I need to have a successful conference with you.
Your support and cooperation are invaluable to me, and I am truly grateful for your understanding during this exciting yet busy time. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I am more than happy to address any inquiries you may have.
Thank you for entrusting your children's education to me, and I look forward to sharing my experiences and insights with you upon my return.
Best,
Kristine Nichols

We are having such fun and we are thankful for our 7th Grade Student Leadership Council for planning Davinci Spirit Days. Go Dragons!
We started our new unit on Procedural writing this week. Please review this short video on Episode 1- Brainstorming! If your student was absent, please have them think of things they are experts at doing! It could be as easy as being an expert at making pancakes or tying a shoelace. We are all experts at many things, but don't even realize it! 🤩
Standard 4.3.3 Design a solution to an information transfer problem using wave patterns. Define the problem, identify criteria and constraints, develop possible solutions using models, analyze data from testing solutions, and propose modifications for optimizing a solution. Examples could include using light to transmit a message in Morse code or using lenses and mirrors to see objects that are far away.
What you will learn from this video
Patterns are used to communicate information electronically.
Text and images are transferred through a pattern of 1’s and 0’s.
Patterns of 1’s and 0’s are sent and received by microchips in our devices.
Music is also transferred through 1’s and 0’s, in both CDs and music players.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Love,
Mrs. Nichols
