✨ What a Great Week! ✨
We just wrapped up an amazing second week of school! Our students did a fantastic job completing their iReady testing, showing us all the great learning that’s ahead. We also held our first fire drill of the year, and everything went smoothly thanks to our students and staff following safety procedures so well. It’s been a wonderful start, and we can’t wait to see what the weeks ahead will bring!

FIRST FIRE DRILL OF 25/26!

Our first fire drill of the school year went smoothly! Students and staff did an excellent job exiting the building quickly, quietly, and safely. We are proud of how well everyone followed procedures and are confident we’re prepared in case of an emergency. Here are some pictures of our pups and our teachers during the drill! 🧯🔥

Arrival and dismissal updates

EARLY PICK-UP ANNOUNCEMENT: If you need to pick up your child early (for example, for a doctor’s appointment), please arrive before 2:15 PM. After 2:15, we are unable to accommodate early pick-ups. This is because it disrupts our dismissal carpool procedures and creates an unfair situation for families who have been waiting in line.

School-Wide Norms

We would like to share some of our school-wide norms with you. Several families have expressed interest in knowing the terminology we use at school so they can reinforce the same language at home.

Voice Levels: At Prestonwood Montessori, we emphasize the importance of being part of a community. Children learn that different situations call for different voice levels, whether that’s a whisper during independent work, a conversation voice with a partner, or a presenter’s voice when speaking to the class.
Hallway Norms: Our hallway expectations are designed to keep transitions calm and peaceful so that learning can continue without interruption.

By sharing these common terms and expectations, we hope to strengthen the connection between home and school and support our children in becoming thoughtful members of their community.

COUNSELORS CORNER

Minute Meetings with the Counselor

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be meeting one-on-one with every student for a quick “minute meeting.”

These short check-ins give me a chance to see how students are doing — academically, socially, and emotionally. The goal is to ensure every child feels seen, heard, and supported.

Minute meetings are a normal part of the school year and give students a safe space to share what’s going well and where they might need extra encouragement. This helps us build stronger connections, celebrate each child’s strengths, and support their growth.
