Concert Choir

This course is a beginning-level choral ensemble at Falcon High School. Music from all genres is performed including pop, contemporary, world, foreign language, and classical in the SAB voicing. Includes instruction focused on basic music theory, sight-singing, and aesthetic valuation. Students will be required to perform in at least two evening concerts each semester. Students may have the opportunity to attend CHSAA large-group choir contest in the spring.
Treble Choir
Length: 2 semesters

Prerequisite: None
This choral ensemble is for sopranos and altos who wish to expand their vocal skills. Music of many genres will be performed with an intermediate degree of difficulty. Students will perform music with SA voicing and potentially SSA and SSAA voicings. This course includes instruction focused on intermediate music theory, sight-singing, and aesthetic valuation. Increased emphasis is placed on student ownership and initiative. Required performances will include at least two evening concerts each semester. Students may have the opportunity to attend CHSAA large-group choir contest in the spring.
Tenor/Bass Choir

This choral ensemble is for tenors and basses who wish to expand their vocal skills. Music of many genres will be performed with an intermediate degree of difficulty. Students will perform music with TB voicing and potentially TTB and TTBB voicings. This course includes instruction focused on intermediate music theory, sight-singing, and aesthetic valuation. Increased emphasis is placed on student ownership and initiative. Required performances will include at least two evening concerts each semester. Students may have the opportunity to attend CHSAA large-group choir contest in the spring.
Chamber Choir

Prerequisite: Audition Only
This advanced choral ensemble has an emphasis on developing singers into advanced, independent musicians. Music of all genres will be performed with a high degree of difficulty, including music from SATB all the way up to SSAATTBB voicing. Extra emphasis is placed on student ownership and initiative. Sight-reading and advanced music theory skills are mastered over the year. Required performances will include at least two evening concerts per semester, contest(s) in the spring, school functions, and public events.
Show Choir

Show Choir is an intermediate choral ensemble specializing in the performance of pop and musical theater music. The vocal aspect of the performance is enhanced by including visual elements such as choreography, costuming, props, and sets. This class is designed for motivated students who wish to gain knowledge and experience with show choir. Increased emphasis is placed on student ownership and initiative. Required performances will include at least two evening concerts per semester and contest(s) in the spring. Additional performances at school functions, public events, etc. will likely be included, as well.
Advanced Show Choir

Prerequisite: Audition Only; 1 year of participation in high school choir (or teacher recommendation); also: concurrent enrollment in another choir or band class is required

This class is designed for students who read music/sight read proficiently. Required performances will include at least two evening concerts per semester, contests in the spring, school functions, and public events. Concurrent enrollment in another choir or band class is required.
