Theater I
Length: 1 semester
Credit: ½ credit (Fine Arts)

This course is an overview of all aspects of theater, both acting and non-acting roles. Students will learn basic acting techniques, including pantomime and improvisation. Students will also be introduced to the basics of technical theater, including designing and directing.
Theater II
Length: 1 semester
Credit: ½ credit (Fine Arts)

This course builds on the acting basics taught in Theater 1. Students will focus on acting techniques including concentration, motivation, and character development. Actors will be taught how to play both humorous and serious scenes as well as write their own scenes. The history of theater will also be studied in this course.
Technical Theater I
Length: 1 semester
Credit: ½ credit (Fine Arts)
Prerequisite: None Fee: See board approved fee schedule
Students will learn the fundamentals of theater design and production. Including set, prop, costume, makeup, lighting, and sound design. Students will practice the techniques and prepare designs for various plays. Class will include many hands on projects and activities, along with written tests and homework.
Technical Theater II
Length: 1 semester
Credit: ½ credit (Fine Arts; Can be repeated for credit)
Prerequisite: Tech Theater I Fee: See board approved fee schedule
Students will take the information learned in Tech Theater I and build on it with more advanced techniques to design and create for the school play. Students will be required to work on the stage crew for the play, including after school practices and shows. Students in this class need to be self-motivated and reliable. Use of power tools will be involved.
One Act Play
Length: 2 semesters
Credit: ½ per semester (Fine Art; Can be repeated for credit)
Prerequisite: Theater II and Audition Fee: See board approved fee schedule
This course is designed for the serious acting student. Students will study schools of thought on acting technique and character development. Students will participate in performance of memorized plays and scenes, auditions, playwriting, and directing. Participation in an advanced acting project will be required. A few after school or evening rehearsals may be required during the rehearsal process for these projects. Students will be encouraged to use their knowledge and skill in auditions for the real world (for parts or college scholarships). Auditions in performances will be required.
