There is a fee for PE courses. Part of the fee is a refundable lock deposit and part of the fee is for a gym uniform that students keep. The same uniform is used for all PE classes and can be used for multiple classes.
Health
Length:1 semester

This course is designed to provide high school students knowledge, skills, and understandings that will enable them to act on behalf of themselves and others to enhance health and health awareness. This course promotes encouragement of present and future health practices among students that will lead them to make significant contributions to the well-being of families, schools, and communities to which they belong.
Introduction to PE
Length: 1 semester
Credit: ½ credit (PE; Can be repeated for credit)

This class is designed for all students. The class includes physical fitness testing, team sports, and recreational sports. Cardiovascular development will be a daily emphasis also. Students will be introduced to game rules and strategies. Written tests will be given to test students’ knowledge of these rules and regulations. Much of the student’s grade will be based on dressing out and participation.
Beginning Personal Training
Length: 1 semester

This class is for the beginning weightlifter and those who are interested in learning how to weight lift correctly. Students enrolled in this class will learn essential techniques about hot to perform each lifting exercise correctly. Students will learn the muscles of each lifting exercise to better understand muscle development and training.
Advanced Personal Training
Length: 1 semester

This class is for serious students and athletes who are interested in improving overall body strength and conditioning. Students enrolled in this class will learn essential techniques in weight training, along with anatomy and physiology. Personal programs will be set up for each students so he/she may develop to his/her fullest potential. Students will be participating in a cross training (lifting/conditioning) program daily. Strength testing will also be included.
Life Long Fitness
Length: 1 semester

This course provides the knowledge students need to live a long and healthy life. With the health and wellness being the foundation, students will learn the various sports and activities that can be done throughout one’s lifetime. Students will develop their skills in various dual and individual sports as well as other wellness activities and exercises.
Yoga
Length: 1 semester

This class involves the practice of safety stretching, relaxing, and breathing. Students will learn the origin and benefits of Yoga which include weight loss, better posture, circulation, digestion, breathing, stress reduction, and better balance. Pilates is the training method that dancers, skaters, and pro athletes use. Our emphasis is on form. Core conditioning strengthens the torso muscle, helping to prevent back pain and can change the shape of your body. Students must provide their own Yoga mat. This is also designed for women who want to learn how to life and improve their bodies through various programs that target precise muscle groups for overall muscle strength and development. This course will also have an emphasis on cardiovascular development utilizing target heart rate valves.
Nutrition and Weight Lifting
Length: 1 semester

This course is designed to provide students with the following: Nutrition information (how to maintain a healthy diet); Information on what causes weight gain, weight loss, and weight maintenance; Information on muscle toning, endurance and strength to include how to increase strength and size; Proper techniques for lifting exercises; Emphasis on the core lifts: bench press, squat, deadlift, and power clean.
Team Sports
Length: 1 semester

This class is designed for all ability levels. The class includes physical fitness testing, team, and recreational sports with a cardiovascular emphasis. Students will be introduced to game rules and strategies. Written and performance tests will be given to test knowledge and skills of units covered. Athletic Training
Length: 1 semester

This course is designed to help with the basic understanding of sports injuries. Of particular interest to those students interested in becoming a physician, physician’ assistant, physical therapist, nurse, EMT, or Certified Athletic Trainer. Instruction includes the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports injuries, and the opportunity to work with athletic teams. CPR Certification through the American Heart Association is offered.
Partners in PE

Partners in PE is a Physical Education class that focuses on the physical, intellectual and social growth of all participants. Engaging in physical activity and sport alongside peers with and without disabilities fosters important social relationships which includes respect, trust, responsibility, life-long learners, community involvement and teamwork.
