Algebra I

Algebra III

Scientific Calculator Required. Algebra III provides a step between Algebra II and Pre-Calculus. Students will begin the course with a brief review of algebra, equations and inequalities, functions, and their graphs. In addition, students will: explore exponential and logarithmic function, linear and non-linear systems, graphing of the conic sections; study sequences and series, permutations and combinations, the binomial theorem, and theory or equations. NCAA approved.
Pre-Calculus with Trigonometry

Providing the student with the opportunity to study advanced mathematical concepts and methods, including topics in vectors, functions, conic section, sequences and series, and limits. Advanced Placement Calculus AB
Length: 2 semesters

Prerequisites: C or better in Pre-Calculus or Teacher Recommendation (Exam optional for possible college credit)

TI83/84 or NSpire Required. Students will explore differential and integral calculus, as well as a formal approach to advanced mathematical concepts. The concepts include functions, limits and analytic geometry. This course prepares students who are seeking careers in medicine, technology, the sciences, and engineering. Advanced Placement Statistics
Length: 2 semesters
Credit: ½ per semester (Math)
Prerequisites: C or better Algebra II (Exam optional for possible college credit)

Students will explore data by describing patterns and departures from patterns, collect experimental samples and analyze the results, anticipate patterns using probability and simulation, make statistical inferences by estimating population parameters and testing hypotheses. The study of these topics will culminate in the Advanced Placement test in May. Statistics is a required course for college students who major in business, agriculture, social science, journalism, or laboratory/research sciences. Completion of a preparatory summer assignment is required. Students must register for both semesters. Students will be prepared to take the AP Statistics exam. NCAA approved.
Advanced Placement Calculus BC
Length: 2 semesters

TI83/84 or NSpire Required. Calculus 2 will cover the topics of integral calculus, area, volume, related rates applications, sequences and series. Students will study the various methods of integration, including integration by parts, partial fractions, and trigonometric substitution. Great attention shall be given to power series, Taylor series, McLaurin series, and convergence tests. Applications of Calculus BC include (but are by no means limited to) all engineering disciplines, cryptography, and computer science. Completion of summer assignment is required. Students must register for both semesters. NCAA approved.
Business Math
Length: 1 semester

This course helps students acquire skills appropriate to business operations. Topics include routine applications, banking accounts, payroll, depreciation, pricing and investment and basic statistics. Students apply skills and concepts learned to daily life in the business world.
Career Math
Length: 1 semester
Credit: 1⁄2 credit (Math)
Prerequisites: Algebra I and Geometry Fee: None
Covers material designed for career technical or general studies students who need to study particular mathematical topics. Topics may include measurement, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, graphs, and/or finance. These are presented on an introductory level and the emphasis is on applications.
Algebra Lab
Length: 2 semesters
Credit: ½ credit per semester (Math)
Prerequisite: Placement Only Fee: None
Algebra Lab is designed to provide additional support, tools, strategies, and interventions for students enrolled in Algebra I. This course will provide opportunities for students to build foundational knowledge while they develop and extend their algebraic reasoning and problem-solving skills. The course is designed to pre-teach, review, and reinforce concepts already taught during Algebra I. New material will not be presented in this lab; nor will additional homework assignments be required.
