Senior Capstone
Length: 1 semester
Credit: 1⁄2 per semester (Elective)

Students enrolled in the Senior Capstone will spend a semester selecting their own area of study in which they will create a project that will serve as a cumulative evaluation instrument to validate their preparedness for post-secondary success. The students will have the autonomy to choose a topic that will be pertinent to their own interests and strengths and will be able to present on that topic using a variety of forms for their final project. Throughout the semester students will: justify to the evaluator their selected topics, learn about viability and logistics of real-world solutions, interact with members of the community beyond Falcon High School, and reflect upon the opportunity to create their own learning experience.
Student Council
Length: 2 semesters
Credit: ½ per semester (Elective)

This course is required for elected representatives to Student Council in all grades. Students will learn how to conduct meetings, speak in public, delegate responsibility, and organize programs and activities. This is a one-year class with different requirements depending on how many years the students has been on Student Council. It is recommended for students to maintain a 3.0 GPA to join Student Council. After applications are reviewed students will be contacted if they are selected.
Student Aide
Length: 2 semesters
Credit: ½ per semester (Elective)
Prerequisite: Application Process Fee: None
Student aides perform vital function in a library, administrative office, or counseling office setting only. By the same token, student aides gather insight and knowledge about practical functioning of the school as both an educational institution and as an operating business. While staff receives substantial assistance from student aides, there are areas of responsibility to which aides do not have access: files and file cabinets, grade books, confidential student and staff records, supervisory duties, instructional duties, and/or fiduciary obligations.
The following guidelines must be met throughout a student’s high school career in order to be considered:
● Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8
● No more than 3 absences per semester, to exclude doctor’s notes
● Zero discipline referrals
Students will be required to complete an application and obtain 2 teacher recommendations. After applications are reviewed students will be contacted if they are selected.
Internship (60 hr/120hr)
Length: 1 semester
Credit: 1/2 credit per 60 hrs

An internship is an unpaid, career focused experience during which students become directly involved in a local business. This experience provides an opportunity for a student to apply the skills obtained in high school to real work situations, and to learn essential skills for post-secondary success. By participating in work-based learning experiences, students will receive training, resume enhancement, and course credit. Internships are facilitated through a D49 partner and must be in an approved business, government agency, or non-profit organization.
