In a full-day seminar dedicated to advancing service excellence in the food and hospitality industry, McDonald's Carmona hosted the Restaurant Leadership Seminar with the theme, “Tactics to Customer Satisfaction and Engagement,” held on July 17, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at McDonald’s Carmona, Cavite.
The seminar featured two of our esteemed faculty as resource persons, Dr. Joan L. Fortuna and Mr. Klenton R. Torrevillas, who generously shared their time, expertise, and industry insights. Their sessions focused on effective leadership, real-world customer service practices, and innovative approaches to guest engagement and satisfaction in fast-paced restaurant environments.
The participants engaged in a series of interactive discussions and workshops aimed at sharpening leadership skills and enhancing guest relations strategies.
The Department expresses its deep gratitude to Dr. Fortuna and Mr. Torrevillas for their valuable contributions in shaping the next generation of hospitality leaders and to McDonald's Carmona for their invitation.
The Department Chairperson, Dr. Joan L. Fortuna, attended a two-day seminar on Food Product Development and the Safe Usage of Various Food Additives at the FPD-ITDI, DOST Compound, Bicutan, Taguig City, from June 4 to 5, 2025.
This initiative aims to enhance the integration of relevant and timely research knowledge into the upcoming academic year.

Ad Astra is the news and publication of the Department of Hospitality Management for both faculty and students. Ad Astra aims to recruit student writers, contributors, and journalists to make up the Editorial Staff.
Dr. Joan L. Fortuna and Mr. Dan Dacillo Ardemer went to the Cavite State University - Carmona Library yesterday, May 8, 2025, to turn over more than 20 undergraduate development research papers compiled from 2022 until the present.
The research pieces were received by our Campus Librarian, Ms. Mignon Lois B. Dela Cruz, and Assistant Campus Librarian Ms. Brendalyn Guinoban.
The Campus Library is designed to effectively store, catalog, and preserve research materials for long-term access, safeguarding students' work against outdated formats and personal storage challenges.
Moreover, the library enhances the accessibility of research to a broader audience, including fellow students, researchers, and the public. By depositing student research in the campus library, we significantly increase our students' academic visibility.
This move also ensures that our students' research becomes part of the scholarly record. This not only supports future research and teaching but also aids policy development, thereby extending the influence of our students' work.
