Why SUP here?
It’s a smooth and easy ride down the river.
There’s little current so it’s like paddling on a calm lake.
It’s free to park and to access the river.
You don’t need a Discover Pass.
It’s great for beginners.
You can make this into a leisurely outing.
Overview: This is a stretch of the river where the Gonzaga rowing team practices. You will also hear guns being fired at the shooting range on the south side of the river. Buoys bob in the water to mark a water skiing course.
Where we parked and launched: Follow My Get Out Spokane Map and park in the gravel parking lot facing the cement barriers. Walk down the path to launch your board.
This is the shore near where we launch just east of Boulder Beach.
It's quite beautiful along this stretch.
This is the opposite side of the river which is close to Felts Field.
The Gonzaga crew team practices on this stretch of the river. There boat house is to my right as I head upstream.
This trip takes place on the stretch of river from east of Boulder Beach to the dam. The views are nice and you won’t find many houses on the banks of this section of the river. Don’t go too close to the dam.
For a quick, easy and pleasant ride take this trip. If you are feeling like a workout, you can go as hard as you want. You likely won’t see anyone else along this stretch of the river.
