Getting into the Water: Launch @ No-Li Brewery and paddle downstream toward Riverfront Park.
Describe the Ride: My buddy JD and I stumbled our way down the uneven, rocky bank west of No-Li Brewery. Despite the challenge to get in the water, it’s well worth it. Heading toward downtown, you paddle under various bridges and are treated some beautiful sites. The river is wide and calm and great for paddlers of all levels. We didn’t pack any food this ride, but it ended up that we didn’t need to. We gorged on blackberries and even bit into an unripe apple. The blackberries alone will bring us back to this ride. At a casual pace, you can get to the Division Street bridge in 30 minutes or less. If you don’t own a board and want to rent one to try out, CDASPORTS rents paddle boards under the Division Street Bridge. On your trek back toward No-Li, you must paddle against the current, but this time of the year, it’s not too strong and it simply provides a bit more of a workout.
The view of the patio at No Li Brewhouse from the river. It really is a beautiful place to enjoy a bite and a beverage.
Heading downriver, the river is wide, calm and boasts little current.
There are nice townhouses right along the river and the Centennial Trail.
Heading toward the Divisions Street Bridge. You can rent paddle boards underneath the bridge.
Taking this ride today reminded me what a casual and fun ride this really is. You either make the round trip in an hour or so if you’re just out for some exercise, or you can stop along the way, jump in the water, pick some berries or simply strap your boards together and float for a while. Other than the fact that there’s not a great place to get your board into the water, if you work together with a partner to get your gear down the bank, you shouldn’t have a problem and you’re sure to enjoy the ride.
If you’re in search of a good workout and challenge, this SUP ride would be a great fit for you. The current is strong and makes for a long trip upstream and a quick one coming back. No-Li is a great place to end your ride, but the beer is a bit pricey. The outdoor seating area makes it worth it to have one though.
