Why hike here?
There are sections of the trail where it’s not too steep or is a gradual climb.
It’s well marked.
You have short and long hike options.
There are great views in all directions.
It’s close.
The full loop takes a little over 2 hours covering about 5 miles.
Overview: Antoine Peak is located above the house we used to live in when I attended East Valley High School. It’s easy to access, can provide a good workout while being quite beautiful at the same time. With well-marked trails, you can take a short or longer route.
Where we parked and launched: Follow My Get Out Spokane Map to the Antoine Peak parking lot.
My beautiful hiking partner MaryBeth.
In full bloom.
The view due south.
Over halfway around the peak now looking to the northeast.
On my first trip, my lovely wife MaryBeth accompanied me. We followed the signs to the Peak, but realized afterward that we should have taken a longer route to get there since we wanted a longer hike. As you near the peak, the views become grander. I returned to the same spot on the 4th of July with my hiking buddy Jay and his faithful companion, Hana. We followed the signs to Antoine’s Summit and the Emerald Necklace which gave us some views to the northeast and northwest that I wasn’t able to see on my first hike.
If you don’t want to travel too far, but want to feel like you’re in the wilderness hiking and taking in the views, this is a great place to get out and enjoy Spokane.
