Getting into the Water: We stayed in a log cabin @ Elkins Resort with my mom, step-dad, brother’s family and my family.
Describe the Ride: The best time to paddle board on Priest Lake is in the morning and possibly later in the evening. Elkins Resort faces south and the wind picks up pretty much daily in the late morning or early afternoon. That being said, I became much more adept at riding the waves by the end of the trip so all-in-all, I was somewhat grateful for the rough water when it reared itself. We took paddle board trips along the shore heading both toward the north end of the lake and the south end of the lake. Priest Lake is the most beautiful and pristine lake that I’ve ever witnessed. It’s definitely my favorite. We had hopes of making a paddle board trek from Hills Resort to an island straight out from it as well as a ride up Upper Priest Lake. We’ll have to take those rides later this year or next year.
The beach owned by Elkins Resort is huge. We rented a cabin and walked down the trail the the beach daily. Elkins Resort supplies the umbrellas and chairs.
One of the attractions of Priest Lake is the crystal clear water.
The front lawn of Elkins Resort is a great place to hang out. These are some great friends of ours who joined us for free movie night.
Priest Lake is my favorite lake on the planet and not just for paddle boarding or boating, but for the sheer enjoyment of swimming in crystal clear water while enjoying the majestic views. It’s a two-hour trip from Spokane and worth every minute of the commute. If I ever win the lottery, this is where I’ll buy my cabin!
