Can you feel it? The air is crisper, the leaves are starting to change colors, and everyone is pulling out all the things that feel warm and cozy! The month of October will be a month of opportunities for our kids to learn, serve, lead, and have fun here at Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church. This month, we are focusing on Moses and the Israelites to discover fundamental truths that God's way is the best, and God does not make mistakes; He as a plan for each child's life. Sunday, October 25, the kids will be helping lead in worship as the kick-off for Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child is a great service opportunity for our church family. We can pack and send Christmas boxes to children in other countries while introducing them to the Bible.

Typically, this is the time of year that we would be deep in planning for our fall community outreach, Trunk or Treat; however, this year, everything looks slightly different. Instead of Trunk or Treat, which we do not feel can be adequately presented due to social distancing constraints, we will instead be taking time to focus on the Reformation. We will provide a time of fun games, crafts, video, and snacks for the kids on the evening of October 25.

October 28 will be parents night in our mid-week program, and Bible character night, where the kids can all dress up as their favorite Bible character. Parents, feel free to dress up too! This night will be an opportunity for parents to experience our regular Wednesday night environment of large group Bible study, small groups, games, and fun, as well as a fun costume alternative night for the kids.

This season we are focusing heavily on Scripture memory. We have already had several kids (and leaders) memorize a few verses since September! One of my favorite ways to learn a new verse is with motions. Another way that is a very effective memorization tool is playing games. The next two verses on our Scripture memory list are Hebrews 11:29a, "By faith, the people crossed the Red Sea as on dry land." and 1 Thessalonians 5:24 "He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it." Both of these verses are from the ESV translation.
