STUDENTS & RECREATION

PASTOR SPENCER KINKADE

Happy Leap Year, everyone! February has one extra day in it this year and, as a Student Ministry, we are excited about using that extra day to pray for our ones for the Who's Your One? Campaign.

Our Wednesday night series for Student Worship this month is God Is Not: Who God Is & Who God Isn't. During this series, our students will be asked, "Does God care about us? Is God ashamed of us? Does he overlook us?”

These are deep questions that affect our students' view of God and their relationship with Him. In this series, our students will learn that not only is God not ashamed to be called their God, but He also reaches out to them to claim them so that they can be His children. When our students finally choose to honestly face these tough questions about God, they will discover that God is not burdensome, but His yoke really is easy, and His burden really is light. They will discover that, thankfully, there are many things that God is not and they will truly see God as He really is.

February 5: God Is Not Ashamed: Students will understand that God is not ashamed to be called our God; therefore, we do not have to live in shame.

February 12: God Is Not Clueless: Students will learn that God is available and present in our lives, and His ways will not be mocked.

February 19: God Is Not Useless: Students will be taught that God is not useless because He is the God of the living, not the God of the dead.

February 26: God Is Not Silent: Students will learn that God speaks the truth, and because we are His followers, we cannot keep Him a secret.

Our students had a wonderful time at Summit over the MLK Holiday a couple of weekends ago in Pigeon Forge. Thank you to everyone who prayed for and donated to the retreat and our students!

An important date for the church to remember, as a whole, is Sunday, February 23. That morning from 9:30-9:45, we will be having a Pray For Me Campaign Mixer. What is a mixer, you ask? A mixer is often an informal gathering where people mingle, interact and get to know one another. We will be having this mixer because it is time for our students to change to new adult Life Groups. As a class, this will be a time to get to know your new students, as well as an opportunity to pray for them. As always, we encourage you to provide breakfast or refreshments for the students and your class.
