Key Club Spreading Joy This Season
From October to January, Carle Place Key Club has been hard at work giving back to the community through a variety of impactful service events.
Giving the Gift of Life
On November 13th, Carle Place Key Club held its annual fall blood drive. Thank you to all the students, staff, and community members who donated. Be sure to donate again at the spring blood drive on March 12th. One pint of blood can save 3 lives!
Supporting Families in Need
The annual food drive collected approximately 900 items for donation to Our Lady of Hope, supporting local families during Thanksgiving. Seniors had the greatest number of items, earning points for Battle. Thanks to all of the students' donations, families in need received meals to enjoy during the holidays.
Toy Drive
In December, the annual toy drive and partnership with Adopt-a-Family brought joy to children of all ages. Gifts were donated to the children’s care unit at the NYU Langone Hospital (Winthrop). Adopt-a-Family, a program supporting struggling families, received a large number of donations from students, staff, and community members K-12. Children received items ranging from blocks, puzzles, games, books, gift cards, dolls, and more. Thank you to everyone who donated!
SEPTA Shred-A-Thon
Key Club volunteers helped with the SEPTA Shred-A-Thon fundraiser in the high school parking lot, sponsored by Mauro Ristorante & Cardinali Bakery. Community members brought personal documents, such as old bills and tax papers, to be safely shredded. Six Key Club volunteers assisted, protecting personal information while supporting a good cause.
Bell Ringing
On November 29th, Key Club members stood outside Stop & Shop, ringing bells to fundraise for The Salvation Army. They sang cheerful holiday songs to draw in donors and spread holiday spirit. Additionally, on December 20th, Key Club partnered with Kiwanis to host a food drive outside of Stop & Shop.
Santa’s Workshop
Key Club volunteers spent their Saturday helping at Santa’s Workshop, organized by the Cherry Lane PTA. Children and their families enjoyed breakfast and a variety of holiday crafts, such as creating ornaments and writing letters to Santa. Volunteers worked from 8 AM to 2 PM dressed in festive holiday sweaters, Santa hats, and reindeer ears to make the event a success. GOAT USA clothing and Croc Jibbitz were also available to purchase in the front lobby.
Carle Place Key Club members have shown the power of community service this fall and winter. Their dedication to helping others continues to make a difference in our community.
