Because of their technical training, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving capabilities, engineers have a wide range of career choices. Many employers value the technical knowledge gained and the ability to understand and create technical information built in the course of completing an engineering degree program. And although many engineers choose to perform design work, some choose other, less traditional or less well-known paths in which their technical abilities and critical thinking skills prove valuable.
Begin by watching the video and taking notes about the different fields of engineering.
In this activity you will research an engineering or STEM career and create a Career Presentation.
To begin, review and take notes on the first few slides of the presentation then your teacher will send you a class copy of the presentation. You will select an Engineering field to research and present:
Find the presentation for your class. Select a slide with a career and fill out the presentation criteria for your topic.
For each type of engineering create a set of 2-3 slides that have the following info
A description of the field.
Pictures of projects and work applicable to that type of engineering.
4 common daily tasks or types of projects they might work on
Starting salary info
A top school to study that type or related field of engineering
ABET certification of that degree at that school
Dive Deeper: Add slides about historical figures, example products, or engineering failures that relate to your field
