Welcome to Lindblom’s Engineering Program!
Fundamentals of Engineering (Engineering I) provides an introduction to the engineering design cycle and offers students experience in solving problems by applying the process in various engineering fields. This survey of mechanical, electrical, software, and civil engineering provides students with an understanding of each of the fields and how they overlap. The major focus of the course is learning how to take an idea through a design process resulting in a product that will be prototyped and manufactured. As students learn about various aspects of engineering and design, they apply these skills through various activities, projects, and problems. Students use simulation, modeling, prototyping, and programming, to develop, analyze, and test product solutions as well as communicate the features of their designs. Working in teams, students learn about problem solving, documentation, and communicating designs to other students and members of the professional engineering community.
