The Brit-Aragón model of Linguistic Competence in and of Foreign Languages must respond to the training needs of students with the aim of promoting and developing the necessary communicative competence in foreign languages to reach the B2 competence level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) at the end of their compulsory schooling.
Our center is covered by the MECD-British Council agreement, so it maintains the characteristics specified in its agreement and subsequent regulations. It also complies with the requirements established in ORDER ECD/823/2018, of May 18, which regulates the BRIT-Aragon Model for the development of Linguistic Competence of and in Foreign Languages in non-university public teaching centers in the Autonomous Community of Aragon.
From this bilingual section we intend to achieve, in addition to those contemplated in the official curriculum for each educational level, the following general objectives:
Improve the teaching/learning process of the English language at the center.
Intensify the development of the skills and abilities contemplated in the official English curriculum.
Use English not only as an end, but as a vehicle for learning and knowledge in other curricular areas, in addition to the subject English Language and Literacy (MECD-British Council).
Promote the development of communicative competence through the use of English as a means of learning the contents of the areas of Biology and Geology, Geography and History, Physics and Chemistry, Music, Economics and Plastic and Visual Education.
Promote communication and exchange of ideas and projects between teachers and students from different countries to bring together the different social and cultural aspects of the countries within the European Union.
Promote attitudes such as tolerance and respect, as well as awareness of European citizenship.
Involve the Center in a plurilingual and pluricultural social idea in which linguistic barriers are increasingly smaller.
Promote the integration and study of cultural elements from different English-speaking countries.
Promote trips that promote linguistic immersion and contact with Anglo-Saxon culture.
Promote the autonomy of the student and their role within the learning and acquisition process of the English language. Promote self-assessment as an integral part of this process.
The main objective will be for students to acquire communication skills and abilities, in parallel, in Spanish and English from the beginning of the compulsory education period.
Through this line of action, new avenues of innovation can be opened in our center, which help to energize and update our educational offer with each new course. It will also enable greater precocity in the assimilation of knowledge and will facilitate the learning of a third language.
We believe that being educated in a bilingual environment encourages respect for other cultures and social habits, since along with language, life models and ways of thinking that are different from those of the social environment in which we develop as individuals are transmitted.
That the student understands and prepares oral and written messages in English with sufficient correctness and propriety, acquiring an acceptable command of the specific vocabulary of the subjects taught in said language.
Use the English language as a vehicle of communication in class in different subjects on a regular basis.
Seek to acquire habits and skills in managing information sources in the English language, both bibliographic and digital, in an autonomous and critical manner.
Develop an open and positive attitude when using bibliographic resources, consult all types of English-language media on the Internet, communicate with people from other countries and learn about their customs and culture.
Find collaborating partners for European E-Twinning projects that are developed in secondary education courses that belong to the bilingual program.
Know cultural, historical, geographical, architectural, etc. aspects of the vehicular language that help them understand and appreciate other celebrations and social events different from their own. To this end, we will develop a calendar that will emphasize, on a monthly basis, some of the aforementioned aspects.
Provide continuity to stays abroad or within our country that promote linguistic and cultural immersion
Promote interdepartmental projects in English.
The teachers of the bilingual program are committed to collaborating with the center's Innovation Project.
The Project has a coordinator of the Bilingual Section. is designated for this responsibility Ms. Ana Belén Egea Pérez , professor of the English Department,
The Coordinator will perform her duties under the supervision of the center's Management Team and her main mission will be to ensure the correct implementation of the methodological, curricular and organizational model of the Program. Likewise, she will be in charge of proposing and coordinating the activities of the teaching staff and, where appropriate, of the departments involved. All this will take
carried out through weekly meetings with the teachers who are part of the project.
The methodology used in the classroom must consider Content and Foreign Language Integrated Learning (CLIL):
The foreign language will be used as a means to learn the content of the subject, therefore, students must acquire the language in order to understand and produce messages.
The subjects in the English language will determine the type of structure, expressions and vocabulary that need to be learned,
promoting the development of communicative effectiveness in the face of grammatical and linguistic precision in general, with the foreign language subject being a tool to achieve that objective.
The evaluation of student progress will comply with the procedures and criteria indicated in the current regulations on evaluation at each educational stage.
