When I was a kid, I used to love making origami crafts and place them around the house as decorations. As I grew older, I unfortunately fell out of the hobby and just simply forgot about it because I became interested in doing other things. Finding this book in our media center's Maker Space allowed for me to rekindle my interest in making these cute little crafts, and I hope it inspires you to make some as well!
Overall, the difficulty level for this craft varies between the type of origami craft you are making. For example, something like a boat or a crane could be pretty easy to make, while others such as a water bird or a squid could be more on the harder side. Frankly, it all depends on what you choose to make and how good you are at folding paper. Origami takes a lot of patience and involves the process of trial and error. The only way to get perfect at it is to keep trying until you get better (this is one of the biggest lessons I learned from trying this craft out myself). There is not much prior knowledge you need to know before you begin this craft, however it is good to make sure you take a lot of time with it as it can get very frustrating if you don't get it on your first try.
I highly recommend trying out this craft the next time you are visiting the Maker Space at Eagles' Landing! It is super fun to do, whether you are by yourself or you are with a bunch of your friends. Creating origami crafts helps you better understand your own potential and skill level, and can motivate you to try harder and harder with each attempt. Origami can be used for many things, like decorations or presents, and given the fact that it is so versatile that it has multiple uses, you can get creative with it however you want. Make sure to stop by the media center and try this out!
