Introducing: The Cricut Maker!
What does it do? There are almost unlimited projects available to you with this maker! It is, and I quote, "the most powerful smart cutting machine" ever made. It quickly and accurately cuts through over 300 materials to create any craft you can think of. It includes 13 tools that can score, cut, write, and add decorative effects to materials from cardstock to leather.
What am I going to do? I have seen so many incredible Cricut projects on TikTok, from stickers to clothes. I would like to figure out how to design and print a sticker or a paper project.
What projects can the Cricut do? The Cricut Maker can be used to craft almost anything. Some of the common projects include cutting paper, leather, or wood into shapes used for keychains or buildable models.
First, choose a design in Cricut Design Space. You can select a pre-made image or design your own.
Then, select your cutting material and place it on the sticky cutting mat. The mat will hold the material in place while the Cricut cuts the design. Then, press the button to load the mat into the machine.
Select the correct material settings in Design Space, and send the design to your Cricut cutting machine.
Press the flashing button on your Cricut machine to start cutting.
After the machine finishes cutting the design, remove the mat from the machine, and the material from the mat
Final Product!!!
Setting up and printing using the Cricut Maker was a lot easier than I anticipated! It was fairly simple setting up the Cricut, using any of the helpful online resources.
Once you have your materials set up and a project selected, all you have to do is make sure the Cricut is ready and the material is aligned with the cutting tool and you press cut! It is very simple and there are tons of projects available to you with the Cricut!
Watch to see the Cricut in action!!!
I was so excited to use the Cricut Maker that I skimmed past basic starting steps. In order to successfully pair your Maker to your computer, drum-roll please, you have to TURN ON your Cricut Maker. Yeah, not one of my best moments. But after you turn on the Maker, everything should go smoothly!
Turn on Cricut
Gather materials ahead of time
Make sure to leave 10 inches of space behind the Cricut for the machine to pull the paper/material used through and ensure the cut is thorough.
Every Cricut gives you access to Cricut Design Space! This is where you can create your own designs or edit projects to cut out!
Who would enjoy this? Anyone! Any person who has even the slightest bit of creativity in them, can make something cool with the Maker!
What project(s) could this help with? There are so many projects that could be improved with this Maker. It can cut so many different materials that you could make posters, costumes, maybe even a wooden structure!
