The below information will teach you to craft a nice bracelet for a loved one. They make for a very thoughtful gift!
First you want to take the strings you want to use. Make sure they are thin, and full of fun color! You want 1 of each color to begin. Make sure each string is about one yard long.
Next, take your strings and fold them all in half. Using the crease in the string loop it back through itself to create an "eye" as shown in the picture above.
It is very useful to put the "eye"under tape. This will anchor the bracelet to the table, and will serve as one of the ends.
Having chosen the color pattern you desire, start looping that colored string back around and over all the other strings, then back through itself (as shown with the white string in the picture above). Repeat this a set amount of times in order to produce the length of the color you want.
In order to switch colors, just start looping in a different color after the other. Make sure that all loose strings stay roughly the same length. You can do this by using each string that's the same color on and off. For example: Use one of the red strings one time, and the other one the next time.
Once you have gotten the desired length bracelet, you can tie the end back through itself and cut off the excess string for a sturdy end to the bracelet. In this example, towards the end of the bracelet i free styled and for the ending of the bracelet I just wove the strings together to add new texture.
This is the finished product. As you can see, i stuck with a Christmas design that went between 3 different colors. This means I used 3 strings, which created 6 ends to make the bracelet. Once everything is tied off, you just tie the end of the rope through the loop from the beginning however you can. BOOM! Now you have a swagger bracelet!
This is an add for a festive bracelet workshop that could take place in the Makerspace.
The reason I originally chose my project to be on this topic was because I had never made a bracelet before, and it seemed like a good and useful skill to learn. Overall, it was an easy skill to learn. However, I did have to overcome 2 failed attempts after the string kept breaking. The next step I could take in mastering this skill would be to learn other designs and patterns for handmade bracelets.
