Goals and Objectives
Measurable Annual Goals should:
Have a direct relationship to skills identified as exceptional in the PLEP
Be skill deficit-specific
Be individualized
Be measurable: numbers/targets clearly identified within the goal statement
Focus is on accessing and participating within the curriculum at increasingly higher levels of independence
A well-written MAG addresses an identified deficit, which after intervention, will assist the student in reducing the adverse impact of the disability on their mastery of standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Case Manager is responsible for adding goals for special education services offered to a student with an IEP whereas the Related Service Provider is responsible for entering goals for a student receiving related services. The Case Manager must coordinate with all relevant Related Service Providers serving the student well in advance of the IEP team meeting to ensure PLEPs and goals are entered into the draft IEP timely.Â
