Dates to Remember:

Free White Milk:  The PEI School Milk Foundation will continue to provide white milk to all Kindergarten students free of charge from Monday, September 9th until Friday, September 27th.  I will take orders daily from students.

Breakfast Program:  Sherwood School's Breakfast Program began on Wednesday, September 11th and runs Monday through Friday from 8:05 until 8:35 a.m.   All students are welcome to attend it.

Second Step Program:  Our school’s guidance counsellor, Kayla Swan, will be teaching our class a series of lessons that fosters children's social-emotional competence and foundational learning skills, based on the Second Step program.  Her first lesson will be on Monday, September 16th, 2024, Day 2.

Book Exchange:  Our first book exchange of the year will be on Tuesday, September17th, Day 3.  Please have your child return the Library book they will sign out by or on the next Day 2, Tuesday, September 24th.  Merci!

School Pictures:  Kindly return your child's Harvey Studios school picture order by Wednesday, September 18th, if placing it through the school.

UPEI School of Nursing Students:  Our class is pleased to welcome two second year students from the UPEI School of Nursing, Josee Mea and Molly Kate, into our classroom.  They will be observing us over eight days throughout September, October and November, beginning on Wednesday, September 18th.  On _____, they will be running a Teddy Bear Clinic for us.

Learning Buddies:  Our first Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Wednesday, September 18th, Day 4. 

Family Barbecue:  Sherwood School's Home and School Association will be hosting a barbecue on Thursday, September 19th from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.  I look forward to seeing all families there.

Show and Share:  All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice from home for Show and Share on the last day of each week.  Kindly help your child prepare to talk to the class about their chosen toy in French at home.  Our first Show and Share of the year will be held on Friday, September 20th.  This week, please help your child introduce themselves.  The following sentence structure may be helpful to them:  Bonjour!  Je m’appelle _____.  Kindly remember not to send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.

Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Evie and our first assistant will be Gia this week.

Theme:  Our theme will be Classroom Objects this week.

Meet the Staff: A number of parents/caregivers spoke to me as they were leaving the the first classroom session at Sherwood School's Meet the Staff night.  Unfortunately, I did not have time to jot down notes before starting my second session immediately afterwards.  Kindly write me a note in your child's communication duo tang to remind me of the important information you shared with me.  I look forward to speaking with all parents/caregivers at their child's Parent-Teacher Interviews in November.  Merci beaucoup!

Earbud Headphones: Kindly send 1 pair earbud headphones in your child's zippered bag, if you have not already done so.  I will be adding a Listening centre to our Free Choice centres.  Please also remember to label them.  Merci beaucoup!
