Dates to Remember:
Kindness Challenge: Our class will continue to participate in Sherwood School's Kindness Challenge as a whole group. The challenge will run from January 16th - 30th and will be facilitated by Mrs. King, Sherwood School's PBIS (Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports) teacher. Kindness is one of four core values that the school will be working on. Our class will attempt to perform 10 random acts of kindness during that time. I am confident that we will successfully complete them all!
Photograph of Winter Activity: Weather permitting, kindly email me a photograph of your child participating in an outdoor winter activity by Monday, January 20th. Your child will use the photograph in an integrated Winter Activities themed Show and Share on Friday, January 24th. Merci beaucoup!
Skating: Our class will be going skating on Monday, January 20th from 11:40 a.m. - 12:40 p.m. at the Cody Banks Arena, as part of our Physical Development curriculum. **Postponed until Wednesday, February 19th, 2025**
Parents are invited to help tie skates and enjoy a skate with our grade level. Please note that helmets must be worn on the ice by everyone.
Second Step Program: Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Monday, January 20th, Day 2.
Book Exchange: Our next regularly scheduled book exchange will be on Tuesday, January 21st, Day 3. Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Monday, January 20th. Merci!
Absence: Madame Nancy Lalonde will be replacing me for the morning on Tuesday, January 28th as I will be absent. Unfortunately, I will not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls.
Learning Buddies: Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Wednesday, January 22nd, Day 4.
Friendship Fruit Salad: Our class will be making a Friendship Fruit Salad on Friday, January 24th, as part of our integrated Fruits and Vegetables theme. All students are welcome to bring 1 fruit to put in the salad on this date. It is sure to be a delicious treat for all!
Notes:
Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:
Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Anna and our first assistant will be Aria this week.
Theme: This week, our integrated theme will be Fruits and Vegetables. We will also touch on Winter Activities again.
Deferred Leave:
As you may or may not yet know, I will be taking a deferred leave for the second half of the 2024 - 2025 school year. My last day with the class will be Thursday, January 30th. Mme Sarah Legault will be replacing me and her first day will be Friday, January 31st. Your child met Mme Sarah when she was a substitute teacher in our classroom for a few half-days in the fall. She will also be joining our class for the afternoon of Wednesday, January 22nd and again for the morning of Thursday, January 30th. I anticipate a seamless transition for all students as Mme Sarah will be familiar with our routines and expectations when she takes over.
While I will miss spending my days with such an incredible group of learners, I am also looking forward to spending time with my immediate and extended family near and far. Our first adventure together will be a Caribbean cruise with children, parents and grandparents.
It has been my sincere pleasure and privilege to work with your child over the past five months. It will be very bittersweet for me to leave at the mid-way point of their French Immersion Kindergarten year. Thank you for supporting your child and making the first half of their year so meaningful. I truly believe they will have five amazing months with Mme Sarah too.
I look forward to seeing all students in the halls of Sherwood School in September, as they begin Grade One.
Photos: Most weeks, I add photos of learning activities that students in our class participate in to the following page of this Google Site. Kindly ask your child to tell you about them!
Have a fantastic week!
