I would like to extend a warm welcome back to all students and families. I look forward to settling back into routine with all learners.
Dates to Remember:
First Day of School after the Holiday Break: The first day of school after the Holiday Break will be Monday, January 6th, 2025. It will be Day 4 of the cycle.
Indoor Sneakers: Kindly be certain to send a pair of indoor sneakers with your child on Monday, January 6th. The sneakers must be Velcro unless your child can tie their own shoelaces.
Change of Clothes: Kindly also be sure to pack a full change of clothes, including a shirt, pants, undergarments and socks in a large Ziploc bag in your child's backpack on Monday, January 6th.
Learning Buddies: Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Monday, January 6th, Day 4.
Second Step Program: Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Friday, January 10th, Day 2.
Show and Share: All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice for Show and Share on Friday, January 10th. Kindly help your child introduce themselves and present their toy. The following sentence structures may be helpful to them: Bonjour! Je m’appelle _____. Voici mon/ma _____. Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.
Book Exchange: Our next regularly scheduled book exchange will be on Monday, January 13th. Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Friday, January 10th. Merci!
Notes:
Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:
Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Caleb and our first assistant will be Carter this week.
Theme: This week, our theme will be Winter Activities. We will also touch on New Year's Eve.
Winter Clothing: Kindly ensure that your child is dressed warmly for outdoor recess every day, including snow pants, winter boots, a winter coat, a neck warmer/scarf, a hat and mittens/gloves. Recess will be much more enjoyable for them if they are dressed appropriately for the weather. Please remember to label all of your child's winter clothing as well. Merci!
Independence: Kindly have your child practice getting dressed in their winter clothing at home so that they can get dressed for outdoor recesses and afternoon dismissal as easily and independently as possible at school. Merci beaucoup!
Throughout our Winter Clothing theme, we will be talking about the following order to get dressed in winter clothing:
snow pants
boots
coat
neck warmer/scarf
hat
mittens/gloves
Extra Hat and Mittens/Gloves: Kindly double-check that your child has an extra hat and an extra pair of mittens/gloves in their backpack each day. Please remember to label them too! Merci!
Early Closure Dismissal Routine: With the arrival of winter weather, kindly review your child's early closure dismissal routine with them. Please write me a note in your child's communication duo-tang to request a new Early Closure Form, if their routine has changed since September. In the event of an early closure, either myself or my substitute teacher will follow the routine indicated on your child's Early Closure Form and are not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls.
Bonne et Heureuse Nouvelle Année!
