Thank you for meeting with me last Thursday, November 21st and Friday, November 22nd for a Parent-Teacher interview to discuss your child’s progress to date. I am looking forward to working in partnership with you over the course of your child's French Immersion Kindergarten year to help them be as successful as possible.
Dates to Remember:
Second Step Program: Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Monday, November 25th, Day 2.
Book Exchange: Our next regularly scheduled book exchange will be on Tuesday, November 26th, Day 3. Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Monday, November 25th. Merci!
Learning Buddies: Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Wednesday, November 27th, Day 4.
Show and Share: All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice for Show and Share on Friday, November 29th. Kindly help your child introduce themselves and present their toy. The following sentence structures may be helpful to them: Bonjour! Je m’appelle _____. Voici mon/ma _____. Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.
Absence: Madame Adriana Howatt will be replacing me for the day on Friday, November 29th as I will be absent. Unfortunately, I will not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls.
Home and School Christmas Wreath Fundraiser: Wreaths purchased through the Sherwood School's Home and School Association fundraiser can be picked up between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30th at the school's front doors.
Photograph of Family Member: Kindly email me a photograph of one of your child's immediate family members by Monday, December 2nd. Your child will use the photograph in an integrated Families themed Show and Share on Friday, December 6th. Merci beaucoup!
Sherwood School Christmas Families Program: Interested person(s), families or groups are able to make a monetary or gift card donation to Sherwood School's Christmas Families Program, a program for families from our school who are in need of extra support during the holiday season. Kindly find an envelope in your child's communication duo tang to use to make a monetary donation by either cash or cheque. Please make cheques payable to the Public Schools Branch. Donations can be made anonymously, however, if you would like to receive a tax receipt, kindly include your name. If you would like to donate a gift card, please email one of the school's counsellors, at the email addresses listed below, for gift card needs. Sherwood School families benefit immensely from the kindness and generosity of our school community every year. Donations will be accepted until _____.

Notes:
Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:
Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Josephine and our first assistant will be Ivy this week.
Theme: This week, our theme will be Families.
Bedtime Routine: With four full weeks of school to go before the Holiday Break, your child will benefit from a consistent bedtime routine until then. A full night's sleep will prepare them to fully engage and participate in our busy school days together.
Winter Clothing: Kindly ensure that your child is dressed warmly for outdoor recess every day, including snow pants, winter boots, a winter coat, a neck warmer/scarf, a hat and mittens/gloves. Recess will be much more enjoyable for them if they are dressed appropriately for the weather. Please remember to label all of your child's winter clothing as well. Merci!
Independence: Kindly have your child practice getting dressed in their winter clothing at home so that they can get dressed for outdoor recesses and afternoon dismissal as easily and independently as possible at school. Merci beaucoup!
Throughout our Winter Clothing theme, we will be talking about the following order to get dressed in winter clothing:
snow pants
boots
coat
neck warmer/scarf
hat
mittens/gloves
Extra Hat and Mittens/Gloves: Kindly double-check that your child has an extra hat and an extra pair of mittens/gloves in their backpack each day. Please remember to label them too! Merci!
Have a fantastic week!
