Dates to Remember:
Kindness Challenge: Our class will continue to participate in Sherwood School's Kindness Challenge as a whole group. The challenge will run from January 16th - 30th and will be facilitated by Mrs. King, Sherwood School's PBIS (Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports) teacher. Kindness is one of four core values that the school will be working on. Our class will attempt to perform 10 random acts of kindness during that time. I am confident that we will successfully complete them all!
Family Literacy Day: Family Literacy Day takes place every January 27th to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. The theme for 2025 is Learn to be Green, Together! I hope your family will enjoy a favourite book together!
Absence: Madame Danielle Duplessis will be replacing me for the morning on Tuesday, January 28th as I will be absent. Unfortunately, I will not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls.
Second Step Program: Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Wednesday, January 29th, Day 2.
Presentation about Lunar New Year: _____ will be speaking to all of the of the French Immersion Kindergarten classes about the Lunar New Year on _____. The Lunar New Year will occur on January 29th and 2025 will be the Year of the Snake.
Book Exchange: Our next regularly scheduled book exchange will be on Thursday, January 30th, Day 3. Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Wednesday, January 29th. Merci!
Friendship Vegetable Tray: Our class will be making a Friendship Vegetable Tray on Thursday, January 30th as part of our integrated Fruits and Vegetables theme. All students are welcome to bring 1 raw vegetable, prewashed and in a Ziploc bag, to add to the tray on this date. It is sure to be another delicious treat!
Madame McMullen's Last Day: My last day will be Thursday, January 30th as I will be starting a deferred leave. I will miss all students and look forward to seeing them in the halls of Sherwood School in September, as they begin Grade One.
Madame Sarah's First Day: Madame Sarah's first day will be Friday, January 31st. I would like to extend a warm welcome to her!
Show and Share: All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice for Show and Share on Friday, January 31st. Kindly help your child introduce themselves and present their toy. The following sentence structures may be helpful to them: Bonjour! Je m’appelle _____. Voici mon/ma _____. Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.
Learning Buddies: Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Friday, January 31st, Day 4.
Kindness Assembly: Our class will be attending Sherwood School's Kindness wrap-up assembly on Friday, January 31st, as part of our school's PBIS initiatives.

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:
Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Caleb and our first assistant will be Carter this week.
Theme: This week, our integrated theme will be Fruits and Vegetables. We will also touch on the Lunar New Year and Groundhog Day. It is going to be a busy week!
Photos: Most weeks, I add photos of learning activities that students in our class participate in to the following page of this Google Site. Kindly ask your child to tell you about them!
Thank you for Fruit for Friendship Fruit Salad: Thank you very much for sending a fruit with your child to put in the Friendship Fruit Salad that we made on Friday, January 24th as part of our integrated Fruits and Vegetables theme. All students enjoyed using their five senses as they ate the fruit salad.
Thank You for Photograph of Winter Activity for Show and Share: Thank you also for emailing me a photograph of your child participating in an outdoor winter activity for our integrated Winter Activities themed Show and Share on Friday, January 26th. All students were very excited to tell the class about their chosen activity. Merci beaucoup!

Assessment and Evaluation: I will be working with each student individually to assess their progress in fine motor, early numeracy and early literacy development again this week. Our daily routine will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this activity.
