Sherwood School will be celebrating the upcoming Holiday season in a fun way each day this week and next. All students are invited to participate in each spirit day!
Monday, December 16th - Day 5
Holiday Colours Day: Students are invited to dress in green, red and/or white.
HO! HO! HO! Day: Students are invited to say Ho! Ho! Ho! instead of French greetings like Bonjour! or Au revoir!
Holiday Themed French Immersion Kindergarten Classroom Rotation: Our class will be participating in a Holiday Themed French Immersion Kindergarten Classroom Rotation from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Students from each class will be grouped together and rotate through a variety of 3 different activities, one in each of the classrooms.
Tuesday, December 17th - Day 6
Holidays Around the World: Students are invited to dress in traditional holiday attire.

Holiday Headgear: Students are invited to wear a holiday hat or headband.
Absence: Madame Danielle Duplessis will be replacing me for the day as I will be absent. Unfortunately, I will not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls.
Wednesday, December 18th - Day 1
Sherwood School Spirit Day: Students are invited to dress in green and/or white to show their pride in Sherwood School! Your child could wear their crested t-shirts and/or hoodies, if they have one.
Random Acts of Kindness Day: Students are invited to lend a helping hand to each other.
Politeness: Students are also invited to be mindful to be polite in French by saying S'il te plait! and Merci! to each other too!
Candy Gram Delivery: Candy grams will be delivered to students, which will coincide with coincide with Random Acts of Kindness Day.
Field Trip to Confederation Centre Library: Our class will be going to the Confederation Centre Library for a read aloud and _____. We will be travelling by school bus, departing from the school at 9:45 a.m. and returning by 11:15 a.m. Kindly remember to pack your child's water bottle and full change of clothes (in a large Ziploc bag) in their backpack on that date. It is sure to be a fun morning for all!
Payment for Field Trips: Payment for your child's field trips can be made online at Sherwood HotLunches or by cash until the date of the excursion. If paying by cash, kindly send exact change in an envelope, clearly labelled with your child’s name on it and the purpose of the payment. The fee for your child to go to the Confederation Centre Library is $2.00 and is due by Wednesday, December 18th.
Thursday, December 19st - Day 2
Holiday Sock and/or Tie Day: Students are invited to wear holiday socks and/or a holiday tie. Any tie will suit the occasion, including a regular tie, bow tie, or homemade tie made out of Christmas wrapping paper, ribbon or bows, for example.
Library Book Return Deadline: Kindly have your child return all of their Library books by this date. Merci beaucoup!
Second Step Program: We will have our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan.
Extra Recess: All Kindergarten to Grade 3 students earned an extra recess from 9:45 - 10:15 a.m. for being kind to others as part of Sherwood School's Mini Kindness Challenge, which kicked-off last Friday, December 13th.
Holiday Themed Stations: Sherwood School's Grade 6 leadership students will be organizing Holiday themed stations for each grade level. Students from each English and French Immersion Kindergarten class will be grouped together and rotate through a variety of 5 different activities, one in each of the classrooms.
Friday, December 20th - Day 3
Onesie or Pajama Day: Students are invited to wear a onesie or pajamas and bring a stuffed toy. We will also watch a short French show while we eat lunch.
Movie and Popcorn: We will be watching a short French movie and enjoying some popcorn made in the school's popcorn machine.
Book Exchange: Our next regularly scheduled book exchange will be on this date. Students will be treated to holiday themed activities in the library instead of signing books out due to our upcoming Holiday Break.
Show and Share: All students are invited to bring another small toy of their choice, that relates to our integrated theme of Holidays for Show and Share. Kindly help your child introduce themselves and present their toy. The following sentence structures may be helpful to them: Bonjour! Je m’appelle _____. Voici mon/ma _____. Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.
Hot Chocolate/Cold Apple Cider Party: I will provide hot chocolate/cold apple cider and a snack that is individually wrapped in its original packaging individually and labelled as Peanut/Nut Free. It will consist of bananas, mandarin oranges and Rice Krispies Squares.
Holiday Break: Kindly note that this date will be the last day of school before the Holiday Break. The first day of school in the New Year will be Monday, January 6th, 2025. It will be Day 4 of the cycle.

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week ahead:
Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Shivansh and our first assistant will be Anna this week.
Theme: This week, our theme will be Family Holiday Celebrations, specifically Christmas.
Indoor Sneakers: I will be sending your child's indoor sneakers home with them on Friday, December 20th for you to check for fit and wear. Kindly remember to send a pair back with them Monday, January 6th. The sneakers must be Velcro unless your child can tie their own shoelaces.
Extra Hat and Mittens/Gloves: Kindly double-check that your child has an extra hat and an extra pair of mittens/gloves in their backpack each day. Please remember to label them too! Merci!
The Magic Toothbrush: All Kindergarten students across P.E.I. will receive a free copy of The Magic Toothbrush, written by Marlene Bryenton, this week.
