Dates to Remember:
Christmas Candy Grams: Madame Norris' Grade 5B students will be fundraising for Sherwood School's Christmas Families Program. They will be selling Christmas candy grams from Monday, December 9th until Monday, December 16th for a $1.00 each. The candy grams will be delivered to students on Wednesday, December 18th, which will coincide with Random Acts of Kindness Day during our school-wide spirit week. A candy gram consists of a candy cane with a note attached. Kindly note the following:
Please complete the note that will be sent home in your child’s zippered bag and return it, along with $1.00 in an envelope, clearly labelled with your child’s name on it, if you wish to send your child a candy gram.
If your child wishes to send a candy gram to another student, please send a note indicating their name and class along with $1.00 in an envelope, clearly labelled with your child’s name on it too.
Absence: Madame Danielle Duplessis will be replacing me for the morning on Tuesday, December 10th as I will be absent. Unfortunately, I will not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls.
Grade 1 Holiday Concert Dress Rehearsal: Our class will be attending the Grade 1 Holiday Concert dress rehearsal on Tuesday, December 10th at 1:30 p.m.
Second Step Program: Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Wednesday, December 11th, Day 2.
Book Exchange: Our next regularly scheduled book exchange will be on Thursday, December 12th, Day 3. Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Wednesday, December 11th. Merci!
First Term Report Card: Your child’s First Term Report Card was sent home with them on Friday, December 6th. Kindly complete and return the slip enclosed with the report card, indicating that you received it, by Friday, December 13th. Merci!
Show and Share: All students are invited to bring a small toy of their choice for Show and Share on Friday, December 13th. Kindly help your child introduce themselves and present their toy. The following sentence structures may be helpful to them: Bonjour! Je m’appelle _____. Voici mon/ma _____. Please remember to not send toys with your child on days other than Show and Share.
Field Trip to see Magic Show: Our class will be going to the Carrefour d'Isle-Saint-Jean to see a French magic show, starting Rémi Boudreault, the morning of Friday, December 13th. We will be travelling by school bus, departing from the school at 9:10 a.m. and returning by 11:00 a.m.. Kindly remember to pack your child's water bottle and full change of clothes (in a large Ziploc bag) in their backpack on that date. It is sure to be a fun morning for all!
Payment for Field Trips: Payment for your child's field trips can be made online at Sherwood HotLunches or by cash until the date of the excursion. If paying by cash, kindly send exact change in an envelope, clearly labelled with your child’s name on it and the purpose of the payment. The fee for your child to go to the Carrefour d'Isle-Saint-Jean to see a French magic show is $2.00 and is due by Friday, December 13th.
Learning Buddies: Our next Learning Buddies session with Mme Fraser's Grade 3 French Immersion class will be on Friday, December 13th, Day 4.
Kindness Assembly: Our class will be attending Sherwood School's Kindness Kick-Off Assembly on Friday, December 13th at 12:45 p.m.
Sherwood School Christmas Families Program: Interested person(s), families or groups are able to make a monetary or gift card donation to Sherwood School's Christmas Families Program, a program for families from our school who are in need of extra support during the holiday season. Kindly find an envelope in your child's communication duo tang to use to make a monetary donation by either cash or cheque. Please make cheques payable to the Public Schools Branch. Donations can be made anonymously, however, if you would like to receive a tax receipt, kindly include your name. If you would like to donate a gift card, please email one of the school's counsellors, at the email addresses listed below, for gift card needs. Sherwood School families benefit immensely from the kindness and generosity of our school community every year. Donations will be accepted until _____.

Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Evie and our first assistant will be Gia this week.
Theme: This week, our theme will be Family Holiday Celebrations, specifically Kwanzaa.
New Student: I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to Aria and her family, who will be joining our classroom community on Monday, December 9th.
Early Closure Dismissal Routine: With the arrival of winter weather, kindly review your child's early closure dismissal routine with them. Please write me a note in your child's communication duo-tang to request a new Early Closure Form, if your child's routine has changed since September. In the event of an early closure, either myself or my substitute teacher will follow the routine indicated on your child's Early Closure Form and are not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls.
Extra Hat and Mittens/Gloves: Kindly double-check that your child has an extra hat and an extra pair of mittens/gloves in their backpack each day. Please remember to label them too! Merci!
Thank You for Photograph for Show and Share: Thank you very much for emailing me a photograph of one of your child's immediate family members for our integrated Families themed Show and Share on Friday, December 6th. Each student beamed with pride as they introduced their relative to our class. Merci beaucoup!
