Dates to Remember:
Absence: Guest teachers will be replacing me for the days on Tuesday, October 29th and Wednesday, October 30th along with the afternoon of Thursday, October 31st as I will be absent on those dates. Unfortunately, I will not able to check for email messages or take telephone calls.
Halloween Spirit Day: Students are invited to dress in orange and/or black on Wednesday, October 30th in celebration of Halloween.
Skating: Our class will be going skating on Monday, November 4th from 11:40 a.m. - 12:40 p.m. at the Cody Banks Arena, as part of our Physical Education curriculum. Kindly write Madame Kayla Swan an email at kmswan@edu.pe.ca by Wednesday, October 30th, if your child will need to borrow skates and/or a helmet from the school.
Parents are invited to help tie skates and enjoy a skate with our grade level. Please note that helmets must be worn on the ice by everyone.
Halloween Costume Day: All students and staff of Sherwood School are invited to dress up in their Halloween costumes on Thursday, October 31st. Kindly have your child wear their costume to school. They will change out of it before going outside for recess at 11:45 a.m. Please pack a change of clothes in your child’s backpack for them to wear for the remainder of the day. For safety reasons, kindly do not include a mask or weapons as a part of their costume. Please also keep small accessories at home as they may get broken or lost at school. It is going to be a fun day!
Halloween Party: Our class will be celebrating Halloween on Thursday, October 31st by playing bingo and enjoying a snack together. I will provide a healthy snack that is individually wrapped in its original packaging and labelled as Peanut/Nut Free. Merci beaucoup!
Second Step Program: Our next Second Step lesson with Mrs. Swan will be on Thursday, October 31st, Day 2.
Cancelled! Show and Share: Our next Show and Share will be cancelled on Thursday, October 31st, due to our Halloween Party.
Professional Learning Day: Kindly note that Sherwood School will be closed on Friday, November 1st as it will be a Professional Learning Day for teachers.
Book Exchange: Our next book exchange will be on Monday, November 4th, Day 3. Please have your child return their Library book(s) by or on Thursday, October 31st, Day 2. Merci!
Home and School Association Christmas Wreath and Tree Fundraiser: Sherwood School's Home and School Association is having a Christmas wreath and tree fundraiser. (All proceeds from the sales will support Home and School hosted activities as well as the new playground.) The fundraiser will close on Saturday, November 9th at 8:00 p.m. Kindly use the following link:

Wreaths are $30.00 each and can be picked up at the school on a Saturday morning to be determined in late November/early December. Trees are $50.00 each and can be chosen at Smith's Christmas Tree Farm or the Canadian Tire parking lot during the month of December. Tree certificates will be sent home with students the week of Monday, November 19th.

Here are a few points of information pertaining to the week and year ahead:
Leader/Assistant: Our first leader of the day will be Gia and our first assistant will be Ivy this week.
Theme: Our theme will be Halloween this week. We will also touch on Apples again too.
New! Assessment and Evaluation: I will be working with each student individually to assess their progress in fine motor, early numeracy and early literacy development over the next few weeks. Our daily routine will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this activity.
Eye See…Eye Learn! Program: Kindly have your child take advantage of the Eye See … Eye Learn! Program before June 30th, 2025. The Eye See … Eye Learn! program is an eye health and vision awareness program which provides one free eye exam and, if needed, one free pair of glasses to all Kindergarten students across P.E.I.
