Math in Cancer

What is cancer?

Cancer is the development of cells that divide and grow at an uncontrollable rate. It is a genetic disease which affects over 100 million people in the world. Since cancer affects so many people in the world, doctors and scientists are trying to cure it and learn how cancer develops using math.

Predicting cancer

A form of mathematical analysis called evolutionary dynamics used to see and predict how invasive cell mutations evolve. Using this math, scientists found that during cell replication, cancer cells can be completely different from the cells they started from. This technique can also help predict newly formed cancer cells.
