Counselor visits to classrooms: Bullying Lesson & Climate Survey
Mr. G
We are finishing our Yellow Fever unit, and beginning to write our essays. There will be some class time dedicated to writing the essays.
The students will generally focus on different parts of the essays daily.
There will also be an Amplify assessment of the information our unit covers.
As a reminder, make sure to check ParentVue for student grades as we are coming up on the end of the quarter.
Talk to your teacher about making up any missing work.

Current Unit: Starting Thermal Energy Monday, September 30
Unit Objectives: In this unit students will develop an understanding of thermal energy by exploring and investigating how different drinking cups keep stuff from warming up or cooling down. By the end of the unit, students will be able to explain the movement of energy within the system.
Looking Ahead: Students just finished up the Race It: Solar Car unit by creating a Public Service Announcement on a renewable resource. Thermal Energy will take us through mid November to complete.
Please check ParentVue to monitor your child’s progress in class.
Our next unit will cover Micro: bit computers. For this unit students will learn to use inputs that allow the computer to process information and give an output. Students will know how to create and use Variables, use if/then statements, and forever loops. The big project for this unit will be creating a digital pet for students to play with.
Looking ahead: Bitsbox & Cue Robots!
In PE, students will begin a new unit next week which will be soccer. The purpose of the Soccer Unit is to develop and enhance the skills necessary to enjoy the benefits of soccer as a lifetime physical activity.
Students will learn the basic skills and rules of soccer, play in small-sided soccer games, and will end with a soccer tournament.
In art class, the 6th graders have been learning that artists incorporate pieces of their lives into their artwork. Next, students created a mind map of things they felt connected to relationships, life events, objects, and places. From there, each student will choose a topic meaningful to them and will create a piece of art using any medium of choice!
