Most students at City Lit on non accredited courses will complete the first page of an Individual Record of Learning (IRL).
There is an example below.
The IRL asks students to briefly describe their previous experience in the subject, their motivations and personal goals and any barriers to learning such as a disability.
If you teaching online, you can upload this as an assignment in Google Classroom or email it to your students. You can find details of how to do this on the Teaching and Working Remotely pages on the City Lit website (Staff Access). Ask students to complete the IRL in class, rather than asking them to do it at home - you will get far more responses.
You can use the IRL to complete a student profile of your class. We discuss this more in Unit 9
