My CP project is a meal plan that aims to reduce food waste and a video that explains it.
MY SMART GOAL
Specific : I will make a meal plan and grocery list for one week in order to ensure that everything is purchased intentionally and no groceries are left unused. I will then make a video that describes the process and what I learned.
Measurable : I will track my progress from the meal planner. My success (or failure) will be indicated by how much ingredients/food are left at the end of the week.
Attainable : I can reach my goal by taking these 4 steps: 1. Research, 2. Make and implement the meal plan, 3. Evaluate the result, and 4. Make the video
Relevant : My goal is relevant to my problem because it aims to solve it. It is relevant to my interest because it incorporates past experiences/slight enjoyment in editing videos (as a tool to raise awareness).
Time based : I want to finish the video by the end of term 3 (March).
The users of this project are the audience of the video uploaded on YouTube. The video illustrates the process of implementing a potential solution for reducing food waste.
How do you gain empathy for your users?
Simply put, the target audience of this video are people who cook. I gained empathy for users by solely focusing on an issue relevant to them.
What was your process when identifying your users?
Since I uploaded the video on YouTube, the users are audiences on YouTube who are interested in the topic. On the other hand, the target audience was determined simply based on the fact that the video surrounds the topic of cooking preparation/kitchen activity.
How challenging has it been to get in touch with your users? Or to decide which users to contact? What is one unique insight that you learned from speaking to your users?
As of this moment, I have not been in touch, contacted or spoken with my users, since my video has not reached a large audience yet.
Did your interviews change your perspective on challenges?
A challenge I faced was doubt on how effective and successful my proposed solution would be. The interviewees were influencers who have experience in this field. They thought it was a lot more effective than what I had thought. I underestimated this method, and this was changed by the interviewees' responses.
Crazy eight ideas:
Youtube video 5. Physical poster/brochure/flyer
Instagram account 6. No 1, 2, or 4, but interactive
Raising awareness 7. Online campaign
Podcast 8. Combination of No 5 and No 7
One thing that is currently causing me to stress about my project is the fact that it is a very long-term project that requires consistency.
My prototype (story board and meal plan) got feedback from my mentor. The feedback was to finalize a more precise story board and menu, and to make a script.
Based on that feedback, I revised the storyboard and menu, and wrote a script.
In creating the prototype, I struggled with drawing the story board and in effectively working together with my mother to make the meal plan.
