A Level Photography will help you develop a sense of what makes an effective image and understand the historical development of the photograph, its impact on society, and our understanding of ourselves. You will research and write coherent analysis, demonstrating consideration and imagination in your own work.

Understanding a Photograph by John Berger
All around us every day, are subjects that can create shapes and patterns within them. These shapes and patterns can vary depending on the view point.
Sometimes moving a few inches can change a meaningless shape to one which is interesting and significant.
Patterns are frequently caused by the effects of shadow. Harsh lighting and shadow can reveal and exaggerate the hidden shape of a subject.
Sometimes the gaps between objects can create new and exciting shapes - all that is needed to see them is a fresh eye and a bit of imagination.
Think about what inspires you within Photography – do you enjoy Portraiture, Land-scapes, Documentary, Abstract or Surreal images?
Research a photographer who inspires you and explain why they inspire you, how do their photographs make you feel, why are you attracted to them? Include examples of their work in your new sketchbook which you could create in either Google Slides(preferable) or Powerpoint.
Take a series of photographs (aim for 30+) that inspire you as a photographer, think about why you love Photography. These can be photographs that you take around your home, of your hobbies, friends/family or on holiday etc. Use your imagination and creativity to create your photographs.
