September 2022 went by smoothly filled with congregations for Novice, Colour Week, Darpan, Tourism fests and inaugurations of several clubs and associations.
Successful progress in academics were ensured by the faculty of the campus and the students engaged in exhibiting their talents in competitions.

On 12 September 2022, the event began with the faculty coordinator of MESTA, Dr. Ajay Kumar introducing to students, the ethos and past achievements of the association, following which an audio-visual of the same was displayed that triggered zeal and vibrance amongst young media enthusiasts.
The much-awaited moment of the ceremony arrived with the Chief Guest, Mr. Nagarjun D being invited on stage to deliver his address. Mr. Nagarjun began his address by speaking on the different traits that define a good journalist and held perseverance and adaptability as the two most important characteristics.
Mr. Nagarjun explained how the broadcast network functions and talked on the relevance of digital media in generating news value in the current society. Due emphasis was placed on internships and social media in order to build a professional network and with this, Mr. Nagarjun ended his speech on a motivational note
Shortly after, an interactive Q and A session took place, during which the queries raised by the students were diligently answered in a befitting manner. After his enlightening speech, Mr. Nagarjun was presented with a memento by the Faculty Coordinator of MESTA, Dr. Ajay Kumar.
The ceremony took a shift in tone as Yana Chouksey and Arya Sinha, Third Year students of Journalism Honors engaged the audience with their melodious tunes. This was followed by the investiture ceremony.
Excitement engulfed the gathering as the logo for the flagship event, Khwabeeda Talkies was unveiled, following which the after-movie for the Talent Fiesta was displayed. MESTA Student Representatives, Shruti Rai and Thrisha Sajeev delivered the vote of thanks, thereby marking the end of the ceremony.
On 6 September , the guest speaker for the day Ms. Priyanka Prabhakar began the session with an ice breaker where she tried to liven up the student audience by playing a small physical based game and continued the following session in an interactive manner. She discussed the important spheres in the field including academic requirement, job opportunities, challenges in the field and other relevant information that is required to know regarding the field of sports psychology. She also took the time to share her experiences with the national teams of India along with her academic journey. The guest speaker ended the respective presentation session by 3 pm and utilised the following time to clear the audience’s doubts.
Ms. Priyanka Prabhakar is a consultant psychologist with over 10 years of experience. She pursued Bachelor of arts from Mount Carmel College and holds a Masters in Philosophy and Psychology. She is and is currently a consultant psychologist at Nudge Consultancy and Kinesis Sports Clinic.
The program’s objective was to commemorate and highlight the unique folk culture of our country. The entire student community of the Department of Tourism Management, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), came together for the celebration on 16 September 2022.
Undergraduate and postgraduate classes of the department were given a state of India and had to represent the folk traditions. The states represented were Jammu Kashmir, Maharashtra, Kerala, Assam, and Rajasthan.
The event started with folk dance performances of all the classes at the entrance of the Auditorium block of the campus, where students had also put up exhibitions in all the given states. The exhibition stalls were highlighted on the food, festival, monuments, etc. After the dance performances, all the students were taken to the mini auditorium, where the remaining part of the celebration took place, which included a cultural walk, Skit, and personality walk.
The event was conducted successfully, with all the students enjoying and learning about our country’s various folk and cultures.
On 21 September 2022, the students of BGR campus departed by 8:30 AM and arrived at the Kengeri Campus by 9:15 AM, where they were welcomed by the Kengeri psychology association. The students of both campuses were seated at the amphitheater, and addressed by the Head of Department – Dr. Vijayalaya Srinivas.
Post this, the activities kicked off with a scavenger hunt, to get the adrenaline gushing, and engage the freshers in physical activity. The students were divided into teams and allotted a five-letter word, with a clue pointing to each letter in a different part of the campus. Through this activity, the students got an opportunity to develop their teamwork abilities and explore the campus as well. The game ended with team 4 bagging the 1st position.
The second activity was a game of trivia, wherein the students were divided into teams and asked questions pertaining to popular culture. The teams were extremely enthusiastic, and made the game competitive for all. Due to time constraints, the activity was wrapped up quickly, and the students broke for lunch.
After this, the session shifted indoors, with a fun game of Mad Adz being conducted in the seminar hall. Students were given various prompts ranging from, “a lipstick disguised as a taser” to “a book designed to be a secret safe”. The main aim of the game was to test the group’s creative abilities to come up with an advertisement that incorporated their given prompt. Various entertaining acts were put up by the students of BGR and Kengeri campus alike, and invited laughs from the audience.
The wonderful day ended with Dr. Vijayalaya Srinivas providing the closing note in the presence of the faculty members of both campuses, and a vote of thanks by the psychology associations of the BGR and Kengeri campuses.
On 20 September, the session titled ' Being a Psychotherapist' discussed on the necessary education and ongoing professional requirements of therapist, Qualities to be developed in a therapist, Perks of being a therapist, and Downsides of therapy. A clinical psychologist must be involved in constant learning, supervision and personal therapy. Ms Shrutkriti Singh who was the resource person is a psychologist since 4 years, holding a Masters in Applied Psychology (Clinical Psychology) from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. She is currently a PhD Scholar at CHRIST University.
The Skill Development session conducted by the Gender Studies Forum was held on the 3rd of September, 2022, on the sixth floor (Room 601). Led by Teena Verma and Darshanbir Narula, the co-heads of the forum, the session began with an introduction to the Gender Studies Forum in response to the large turnout for the screening, with students from several departments. After an introduction by Kashissh Bhambri and Rashi Bhandari, the first three episodes of My Love Mix-Up were screened. After the screening, a discussion was conducted amongst the participants, who expressed their opinions regarding the show. The session was lively, healing, and pleasant, a perfect end to a hectic week for students.
On 17 September 2022, a workshop was organised by the Student Welfare Office on Designing Effective Posters at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bannerghatta Road Campus. The event started with resource person Dr Ajay Kumar, Assistant Professor of Department of Media Studies, CHRIST Bannerghatta Road Campus, talking about aesthetics. He also discussed the solutions for problems faced while creating a poster.
This was followed by the speaker giving insights on how one should create a focus in the poster. There should be a distinction between background and foreground. Another key take away was that there should not be the usage of too many fonts in a poster. The focus on design needs to be taken into consideration. There were a few faculty members who attended the workshop and the Director Fr Biju KC graced the workshop with his presence. The volunteers of CHRIST Student Welfare Office and Design Lab at MESTA were appreciated for coordinating the entire event at the Bannerghatta Road campus.
The specific nutrition related practices or behaviours to change habits that contribute to poor health was the highlight of discussion of this session which was held on 12 September 2022. The session began at 11.30am with an attendance of 100 faculty members and staff of BGR campus. The session started with a welcome speech by the coordinator Ms Sonia Joseph of CCHS. Dr Sandhya explained the components of good lifestyle, diet, exercise and risk factors, poor lifestyle related problems, Modern urban life etc. The session was very interactive and at the end Dr Suja John concluded with the vote of thanks with the Campus Dean Dr Jyothi Kumar handing over a token of appreciation .
On 10 September, Dr. Ashwini N.V, Founder-Director of Muktha Foundation presented a guest leacture on the topic 'Gatekeeper Training : Prevention of Suicide'. The session dealt with the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of gatekeeping and how gatekeepers can be involved in all these levels. The resource person discussed the various myths about suicide ideation and how suicide is destructive and the importance of desensitizing it.. The warning signs of suicide were summarized in the acronym – WE CARE and the various behavioural signs that gatekeepers must identify. The mindsets of shark, avoiding turtle, teddy bear and collaborative ant in dealing with various situations was also discussed in detail.
The Student Welfare Office of CHRIST Bannerghatta Road Campus had organised the 'Colour Week' celebrations from 5 September to 10 September. All the classes had participated in the colour week 2022 and performed dance enthusiastically and the faculties from different departments participated in it and the winners were announced on the last day i.e on 10th September 2022 by the Director of the campus, Fr Biju KC. The whole event was a success and the Student Welfare Office (SWO) Committee Members and Volunteers were showered with appreciation for their efficiency and coordination.
Bob the Builder’, an annual bid and build competition was conducted by The Entrepreneurship Cell of the School of Business and Management of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bannerghatta Road Campus. This year ‘Bob the Builder’ saw participation of 102 teams. The event was designed in a way as to test the creativity of the participants while having access to limited resources. The first round of the fest, Mock Stock, allowed the participant teams to trade in digital wallets and acquire funds for the next round. The second round, Auction, invited the participant teams to utilize the capital they had gained from the previous round, to bid for raw materials to be used in subsequent rounds. The third round, Internal Pitch, required the participants to make use of the materials they acquired in the previous round, to create an innovative and viable business plan. This was essentially a screening round, where the teams pitched their ideas to the internal panels of judges and the TOP 4 teams qualified for the last and final round, Investor’s Pitch. In this round, the TOP 4 teams pitched their full-fledged business plans to two judges Akshay Khirodwala,Founder Firstsight and Ashish Ramamurthy Head Evangelist.
The participants supported their presentation with the help of display posters, video advertisements, and specifics such as Market Entry Strategies, Cost Breakup, Seed Capital Requirements, etc.
Bob the Builder is meant to lay emphasis on the significance of resource management. Its paramount objective is to connect the budding entrepreneurs with investors and industry leaders. The event covered several dynamics of critical thinking, evaluation, market awareness, and a glimpse of the anticipation of making money on the stock market. It allowed the participants to enhance and portray their creativity, along with improving their conceptual skills with respect to business ideas. This was yet another success, in the series of events organized by Entrepreneurship Cell, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bannerghatta Road Campus which turned out to be an extremely enriching experience for all the students.
An engaging and interactive session was arranged for the finance students on 5 September 2022. The knowledge and experience he bought to the table was immerse, and the students got to learn a lot from this session. He started with introducing himself, and how he landed up in the financial service company. Then he proceeded by making us understand some financial basic terms. He took us through the balance sheets and cash flow statements of the companies. He told us that private websites blind us by showing fallacious numbers and affecting the buyers’ sentiments. For a better understanding, he showed us one of the scams which he discovered long back of a particular company. In the end, there was a Q&A session, where questions were asked by the audience and doubts were cleared. He responded to each one of them in a precise way.
The annual intra-deanery competition Darpan 2022 was conducted from 19 September to 30 September by the Student Welfare Office of CHRIST Bannerghatta campus. The Art events bestowed the opportunity for the creative minds to think and bring their imagination onto paper. The Literary events enhanced the linguistic knowledge in the students and gave them a scope to deliver their messages in better words. The stage events provided talented minds with a platform to share their feelings with the audience and spectators. The media events gave the opportunity for the participants to capture the beauty around us with lens and to express their feelings and emotions. The winners of Darpan 2022 were announced on the Valedictory ceremony which was held on 30 September 2022 where cash prizes and certificates were distributed for the winners and runners up of the events. Darpan 2022 was a huge success.
From 26 September to 1 October the World Tourism Day was commemorated by the Library, CHRIST Bannerghatta Road campus. 230 non- circulated books on Tourism were kept on Display The theme of the display was LIBRARY TRIP and the library team created a setting to match the 'Tourism' theme by setting up a black road made from carbon sheets, plant decorations, formation made by books and so on.
The Research Scholars Forum under the research club, Tafteesh, conducted the monthly presentation by students on 24 September2022 at the Mini Auditorium, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Bannerghatta Road campus, between 10.30 am to 12.30 PM. The teaching faculty, the PG students, and the Ph.D. scholars from the Department were part of the program. The program was formally initiated with a welcome note by Bandish, a B A student at the Department of English and Cultural Studies. He welcomed Bijitha P to have her presentation. She commenced the session by narrating her journey toward research. She interacted with the scholars, sharing thoughts on their research ideas. The stage was later handed over to Gokul Jayan, a PhD scholar at Christ University, to present his research paper. He shared an outline of his research, followed by an interactive session with the audience.
Marquest was a promotional event by Niche Club. It comprised of 8 stalls with a variety of games to give the students of CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Bannerghatta Road campus a recreational and competitive experience. Games ranged from the mind-boggling Rubik’s Cube to the physically-straining Push-Ups. The event was generously covered by photographers from SWO.
