The Autumn month began with commemoration of the Father of Our Nation's birthday and strolled quietly with notably few but significant events.
The commencement of offline classes from mid-October sparked excitement amongst students and faculty. Well! the campus now breathes back to life.

Bibliotheca, the BGR Library Committee, celebrated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The celebrations were held between 27th September to 2nd October 2021 by organizing a Quiz competition and Books display on Mahatma Gandhi at the 6th floor Library of CHRIST Bannerghatta Road campus.
There were around 165 registrations for the quiz competition.
On the 1st of October, 36 students participated in the quiz competition. The Director of the campus Dr Fr Biju KC addressed the event on the greatness of Mahatma Gandhi and narrated two incidences from the Mahatma’s life.
The following are the winners of the quiz competition: 1stprize winner- Shilpa Anna Thomas of 1st Economics Honours, 2nd prize winner- Abhigya Sharma of 1st Economics Honours and 3rd prize winner- Bhuvan Saxena of 3rd BBA Honors.
As part of KAS-CU project to understand the youth perception of rule of law in India, a one day workshop to develop a working definition of the rule of law held at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) on 29th September 2021. The workshop was attended by experts from all over India from diverse backgrounds to deliberate and finalize a working definition of the rule of law for the project. The workshop had two sessions, where in the first session; the experts presented their views regarding the rule of law from diverse perspectives. The second session had common deliberation of experts to develop a working definition of the rule of law for the project. Based on the developed working definition of the rule of law, an appropriate methodology will be developed to conduct an all India survey for the project. The experts who attended the workshop are Prof.Amita Dhanda, NALSAR, Prof.Babu Mathews, NLSIU, Prof.Surajit Mazumdar, JNU, Prof.Sairam Bhatt, NLSIU, Dr.Ajay Gudavarthy, JNU, Dr.Lakshmanan, MIDS, Dr.Manjur Ali, GIDS and Dr. Sowjanya, TISS.
The increasing casualties due to breast cancer among women in recent years makes it essential to spread awareness about the disease and how early detection can affect treatment and cure.
On the 8th of October, the housekeeping staff of the BGR campus attended an awareness session on Breast Cancer. The program was coordinated by Ms Sonia Joseph, CCHS who shared information about Breast Cancer with the help of videos in the regional language Kannada.
A workshop on Sports Writing was conducted by the Department of Media Studies of CHRIST (Deemed to be) University, Bannerghatta Road Campus, on 28th of October, 2021 from 3-5-m on Google meet. The workshop hosted Dr Ankit Kumar Singh, a renowned sports journalist, and an academician, as the Guest Speaker.
The motive of the session was to explain to the participants the changes the sphere of sports journalism has been through due to increasing digitization. The print journalists had to reinvent themselves. He started the talk by giving insights into the history of sports and sports journalism. Before the invention of the broadcast medium, television and the radio, the print media, particularly newspaper, was a dominant medium for the journalism sector in a country; however, sports did not get a space in the newspaper. Since England was the pioneer of Cricket in ancient times, the greatest sportswriters were from the former. It was not until after 1951; sports coverage received its due space in Indian newspapers. Due to the Asian Games being held in 1982 and India's Cricket World Cup win in 1983, sports journalism became a full-fledged sector in the Indian media field.
Dr Ankit then took the workshop participants through the journey of changes in sports journalism and gave valuable insights regarding the former
The event’s speaker was Dr Arun Sasidharan, Scientist-C, NIMHANS, Bangalore. He described schizophrenia as a mental disorder with the inability to make predictions about expected sensations and experiences, has instances of altered perceptual consciousness. He explained the positive, negative and cognitive symptoms. The risk genes, clues from neurobiological findings consisted of a detailed overview of the involvement of neurotransmitters, brain channels, synaptic abnormalities and anatomic abnormalities.
He explained it from a developmental perspective- the diagnosis during the development of an individual. The role of connectivity between brain structures, abnormal hippocampal activity. Cognitive impairment magnitude was also explained. He further spoke about how schizophrenia is characterized by corollary discharge, salience and memory, sensory gating, sensory memory, error monitoring, He went on to explain why it is hard to treat and gave useful references for the same. The session came to a close by addressing the questions of the audience.
The workshop to develop the methodology for studying the youth perception of the Rule of Law in India was organized at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) (CU) on the 13th of October 2021 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr Fr. Biju KC (Campus Director of Christ Deemed to be University, BGR), Mr Elias Marini Schaefer (KAS representative India Office), Prof. Jyothi Kumar, Dean, and Dr Venkatanarayanan S, the project director. The workshop's primary aim was to identify and develop a suitable research design, an appropriate sample design, identify the suitable variable list, develop a data collection tool, and identify analysis tools to analyse the data. The participants of the workshop included Dr Irudaya Rajan S, Founder Chairman (IIMD), Kerala, Dr R S Deshpande, ISEC, Bangalore, Dr Sanghamitra S A, JNU, Delhi, Prof Sigamani P, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Dr Vinoj Abraham, CDS, Kerala and Dr Dilip Diwakar G, Central University of Kerala.
The one day workshop was divided into four sessions of 1) Developing a Research Design for the project, 2) Identifying the relevant variables to conduct the field survey, 3) Developing a Sample Design for the Project, 4) Discussing the questionnaire and identifying appropriate tools of analysis to analyze the data.
