Innovation Idea
Improve Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) systems and processes to guide local educational agencies (LEAs) within Santa Clara County to more effectively monitor and evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of their LCAP actions
Goals
Support LEAs in regularly engaging in progress monitoring practices throughout the year to better inform decision-making around whether LCAP actions should be continued, discontinued, or modified
Build and expand capacities of LEA staff to create cultures of decision-based data collection and embrace a continuous improvement mindset to improve conditions for learning for their unique student populations
Strategies
Work collaboratively with districts to clearly articulate a theory of improvement that connects the implementation of LCAP actions to the desired outcomes
Develop and pilot prototype of LCAP tool and process with LEAs to guide progress monitoring and decision-making processes
Support districts in assessing their strengths and opportunities for growth with data systems, knowledge, practice, and leadership as it relates to addressing student needs
Identify the role and function of each district/site member on the progress monitoring data team as it relates to collecting and sharing data
Develop and utilize data protocols to share progress monitoring measures and analyze effectiveness of LCAP actions
Create a data map that captures relevant data elements and their associated timelines, workflows, source systems, and users
