Innovation Idea
Create a user-friendly dashboard with student-level data using the CALPADS Student Absence Summary (STAS) files that are submitted on a monthly basis to identify students at risk of becoming chronically absent
Goals
Provide LEAs with access to local data on a regular basis to analyze student attendance and identify students at risk of becoming chronically absent
Create a process for identifying and monitoring actions to support students and families at risk of becoming chronically absent
Strategies
Develop the infrastructure and processes to collect and verify student-level attendance data from all participating LEAs, using feedback from LEAs to improve the usability and effectiveness of the dashboard
Support districts in analyzing data to inform the use of evidence-based interventions to support students at risk of becoming chronically absent
Identify and implement evidence-based strategies to get students back to school, using Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles to monitor the effectiveness of selected interventions
