Intro to Shop 2 is an extension of Intro to Shop 1 for 7th and 8th grade students who have successfully completed the Shop 1 class. This class will students' skill building in a shop environment. It will focus on process more than projects, but projects are the assessments. The class will increase the amount of detail required in student work. Students will use a variety of hand tools and power tools. Student safety will be priority number 1.Â
This class is based on standards and objective originally found in the USBE Exploring Technology core and adapted to the course content emphasis.
The following subjects/units will be covered in the class:
Classroom Procedures, Measurement, Safety, Bird House Construction, Ping Pong Ball Launcher and Laser Cutting/Engraving. Some students may be able to do additional projects.
Digital & Hands-on activities will be involved in most of the units. The basic class fee is $20.00 to register for the class. This covers basic materials that are used by every student to complete the required projects. Students moving beyond those projects will need to pay for materials to build additional projects.
