Students are required to have a Hall Pass (Teacher Permission) to leave a classroom during class time for a personal reason. Leaving class without a Hall Pass will result in disciplinary action like a Tardy or a Truancy.
When a student needs to leave the room, they must ask permission from the teacher. When they have received permission they quietly use a Chromebook to access the Canvas course and fill out the Hall Pass form for that class. When they have completed the sign out they move to the door, take the Hall Pass and leave the room. They are to return the Hall Pass to its place when they return.
Students who use the hall pass too frequently, usually defined as more than 3 times in a quarter , may have their hall pass privileges revoked and they will no longer be permitted to use the hall pass to leave the room.
Only one student at a time may use a hall pass.
If a student has an "emergency" they should leave the room and take care of the problem immediately. They can explain to the teacher upon their return.
A student with a 504 or Health Plan that allows for more frequent restroom or office access is not subject to this policy.
