Intro to Shop (1 semester) [7th & 8th Grade]
This class is a state Engineering & Technology course known as Exploring Technology. Only 7th and 8th graders are eligable for this class
This class will introduce 7th and 8th graders to working in a shop environment with tools. It will focus on process more than projects, but projects are the assessments. We will explore manufacturing style assembly as well as custom individual work. Students will be introduced to hand tools and power tools. Building and drawing units will be in module form so students will be able to move at their own pace. This allows those with more experience or confidence to move faster than those who need to move a little more cautiously. The focus will not be on the quantity of activities completed but the quality of the learning. There is, however, a minimum expectation for projects completed. Student safety will be priority number 1. The basic class fee is $20.00 to register for the class. This covers basic materials that are used by every student to complete the required projects. Students moving beyond those projects will need to pay for materials to build additional projects.
