Three days a week the lab will be open after school until at least 4:00 p.m. It will also be open at or before 7:30 a.m. four days a week. The purpose of having the lab open is to allow students in-room opportunities to get extra help and complete make-up and late work. Click Here to view the current year schedule.
What is considered Make-up Work?:
Make-Up Work is work that needs to be completed outside of class time because of absence or off task habits (the type of absence does not matter). A student has one day for each consecutive absence plus one to make-up missed work. If a student misses only the deadline day, the work is due the day he/she returns to class. At the end of the make-up period the work is considered late.
Why come in before/after school?:
It is important for students to complete make-up work promptly upon returning to school. Remember that time must also be made up, not just assignments. When students are working on projects that take a number of days to complete, it should be expected that missed days not made-up will adversely affect an academic grade. Remember that much of the work done in Intro to Shop and College & Career Awareness classes must be done in the Tech. Lab.Â
Students should check Canvas while they are gone to see what assignments were missed. This can be done on a home computer or a smartphone. Some can be done during the absence to lessen the make-up load upon return. The student should double check with the teacher about missed work the day he/she returns.
Be aware that since work cannot always be done outside of the lab, a homework request through the office cannot always be filled. That does not mean a student is exempt from the work. It will need to be made up upon the student's return. When students turn in make-up work they need to indicate on the assignment that is late because of absence so it is not counted as late work.
