Intro to Shop 1 

Intro to Shop is a 7th and 8th grade only class. This class will introduce students to working in a shop environment with tools. It will focus on process more than projects, but projects are the assessments. We will explore manufacturing style assembly as well as custom individual work. Students will be introduced to hand tools and power tools. Student safety will be priority number 1.  

This class is based on standards and objective originally found in the USBE Exploring Technology core and adapted to the course content emphasis.

The following subjects/units will be covered in the class:

Classroom Procedures, Measurement, Safety, Cutting Boards, Animal Lamps and Laser Cutting/Engraving. Some students may be able to do additional projects.

Digital & Hands-on activities will be involved in most of the units. The basic class fee is $20.00 to register for the class. This covers basic materials that are used by every student to complete the required projects. Students moving beyond those projects will need to pay for materials to build additional projects.
