Create a Poll in Live Rooms

You can create and run polls within live rooms that can be a useful tool to engage students during lecture. Please note the following: (1) You can only use the polling feature in live rooms when you are sharing lecture slides and (2) You will need to verbalize the questions/multiple choice answer options as they are not customized within the polling feature.

Watch the video below to follow along step by step to create a poll

Step by step instructions to invite students to create a poll:

1.When you are in a live room and sharing lecture slides, click on the polls option on the left hand side

2. Within the polls tab, you will have the option to choose between administering a multiple choice poll (students choose between options A through E)  or a numeric answer poll (students are prompted to submit a numeric answer).

Click on the type of poll you want to share with the class.

3. On the left of the screen, use the drop down menu to select how long you want to run the poll and select Start polling to make the poll go live and students can submit their answers.

See below for examples on how you can show students the prompts to your poll:

4. Next, select or input the correct answer for the questions. See below on instructions on setting the correct answers for multiple choice and numeric polls:

For multiple choice polls, navigate to the bottom of the poll and click Correct. From the dropdown menu, select the correct letter.

For numeric polls, navigate to the bottom of the poll and click on the pencil icon and type in the correct answer.

5. You can either click Stop polling or wait for the timer to run out so that the poll will close and students can no longer submit answers. Once the poll is closed, you will be able to see the results of the poll.

You can choose to share the results of the poll to the class by clicking on the eye icon at the top of the question.

6. To show the class the answer to the poll, click on the check mark to the left of the eye icon:
