Students can achieve an equivalent graded qualification in this subject which is a grade C. This is a Level 2 certificate awarded by CCEA. This subject can be selected by students following the J or B pathway.

There is no formal examination for this subject so all evidence is based on portfolio work.
This qualification builds on the knowledge, understanding, and skills developed through the Learning for Life and Work Area of Learning. This is the non-exam qualification of Learning for Life and Work.
Assessment is portfolio based; students produce evidence that shows how they have met the assessment criteria for each unit. Teachers assess the portfolios, and then it is moderated externally by CCEA.
To achieve a Certificate which is the equivalent of a GCSE C, students must complete all 13 units.
The study of Preparation for Adult Life will give you many transferable skills and qualities that are important to undertake further study or employment. Many students who have completed this subject have gone on to study A levels or complete a qualification at Southern Regional College.
