Students can achieve an graded qualification in this subject. This is an exam and Controlled Assessment subject. If a student is interested in the course but does not want to undertake any formal examinations they can opt for the CCEA equivalent qualification - Preparation For Adult Life (PAL.)

Unit 1: Local and Global Citizenship (Written examination weighting 20% of GCSE grade.)
Unit 2: Personal Development (Written examination weighting 20% of GCSE grade.)
Unit 3: Employability (Written examination weighting 20% of GCSE grade.)
Unit 4: Investigation (Controlled Assessment weighting 40% of GCSE grade.)
Learning for Life and Work engages students to explore social, personal, economic, and employment issues.
In Learning for Life and Work students will understand the connections between local, national, and global issues.
They will develop confidence in thinking independently by critically challenging accepted views and assumptions. They will also make informed decisions and take appropriate action.
Learning for Life and Work will give students the opportunity to develop transferable skills such as creative thinking, analytical problem solving, and effective teamwork.
