Principal Responsibilities

BSD principals provide instructional leadership for teaching and learning, facilitate community engagement, and manage operations at their respective school sites.

During Learning at Home, principals are fulfilling their responsibilities in dynamic and creative ways, while maintaining a strong focus on the well-being of their students, families and staff.

Principals are:

• Managing their school site to ensure safe and healthful conditions during school closure

• Communicating regularly with their families and community

• Responding to and fulfilling needs and requests for support from their community

• Ensuring school programs continue to operate (e.g., routing lunches to recipient families)

• Guiding modified approaches to the instructional program to support student learning at home

• Supporting site teachers and staff to continue to perform their functions and duties

• Ensuring students and staff have the necessary resources to engage in home learning
