The amount of time our children spend on screens and what they do during screen time are of importance and concern. Even before this coronavirus pandemic, thoughtful voices and organizations have provided guidelines and recommendations for “media use”, including the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) through their 2016 New Recommendations for Children’s Media use.

Dr. Jenny Radesky of the AAP, the lead author of the aforementioned publication, acknowledges that at a time when screens are being so heavily depended upon for both learning and connection/interaction, that addressing screen time in our current context requires some adapted thinking.
