Twee is an AI-powered platform designed to assist English language teachers in creating personalized and engaging lesson materials efficiently. Tailored specifically for ESL (English as a Second Language) and EFL (English as a Foreign Language) educators, Twee offers a suite of tools that streamline lesson planning and enhance classroom activities.
A core function of Twee is its ability to generate diverse teaching activities and integrate content. It can instantly create materials such as dialogues, gap fills, and various matching tasks like word definition or collocation matching. Teachers can generate texts on any topic with specific vocabulary, and create various question types (open-ended, ABCD, true/false) from these texts or from uploaded audio and video content. Twee also features a level checker tool for pasted text and allows extensive customization and editing of all generated content, with projects automatically saved.
For sharing and assessment, Twee simplifies the process, allowing lessons to be easily shared with students via a QR code or a direct link. The platform supports instant feedback using AI responses for student work and provides teachers with access to student assignments and results. Lessons can be exported as PDFs, documents, or as separate parts of a Google Form, and projects can also be shared with other teachers.
Twee allows teachers to create personalized lesson materials in a short amount of time. It supports 10 languages and offers tools aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CFR). The platform enhances student engagement and participation through dynamic and tailored activities, while saving teachers considerable time by quickly generating diverse activities and providing answer keys. Additionally, Twee facilitates easy sharing of lessons with students via QR codes or direct links, and supports instant AI-powered feedback on student work.
A notable drawback is the highly restrictive nature of its free version. It provides only 10 "runs" or uses per month, which users can quickly exhaust, even with casual play. This limitation can be "very frustrating" and quickly force a user to seek a paid subscription to continue using the platform effectively. Additionally, concerns were raised regarding the authenticity of AI-generated content, suggesting it might serve better as a "jumping off point" rather than a complete solution. Minor points include the desire for more built-in photos or collocation references to reduce teacher effort, and the inability to hide elements like time and level from student-facing lessons.
Twee is quite a multi-faceted app which can be applied in many ways.
